Thanks Bill!!!

I wish you could have seen it when we got together — but next year we’re headed down from Detroit to Texas — not sure where you are there but it’s a pretty nice little car show when we stop at various places. Of course.... that’s also assuming they’ll invite me back! IDK.

69hugger 02-09-2019 09:23 AM

I hope to join you all on the tour. I am on the signup list....we'll see if I make the cut.

GregWeld 02-09-2019 04:56 PM

Photos are worth a 1000 words —- proof of the daily driver status of the poor little ‘40....... a trip to Ace Hardware..... LOL

Nah — Alex and I were building a Lego Riviera and we ran out of white.

Yes..... it was just completely gutted and remodeled - and the yard et al was stripped clean.... they did bare minimum landscaping just to flip the house - and we’re getting bids right now to remedy that.

Yeah — but then he’d want to build a raccoon ass scratcher rock pile.... and bring his pet Javelina

After seeing the last two homes and then those cute little “starters” up the front walk way I knew they weren’t going to cut it. I’m willing to bet the landscapers have a new truck and equipment before the ink dries.

ps, nice truck!

It was a treat to see the ep with you and the GG tour at Kindig air not once but twice yesterday.

The ‘40 has been getting much “love” — a full feature in the GoodGuys Gazette — and cover and full story in the latest issue of Wheel Hub magazine - and a PPG paint Ad..... so far, two Top 10 picks — and today a Gary’s Pick at GoodGuys Scottsdale.

Gary Meadors was the founder of GoodGuys. Sadly he passed last year.... so the award is an honor to me. He was truly a GOOD GUY! It was his Yellow ‘32 Ford Tudor that I was asked to drive on the 2017 Hall of Fame Tour.... I had turned that offer down because CHRA (builder of the ‘40) had asked me to drive their 68 Corvette well beforehand - and I felt I needed to honor that commitment ...but that car had starter trouble and so they rolled the ‘32 out of the trailer. Marc Meadors was supposed to drive the ‘32 on the tour but had a last minute change of plans so the car was already at DSE. Lucky for me - they just put it in a trailer and were hauling it on the tour. I’m a hot rod guy.... so that kind of stuff means something to me. Just trying to put a little story behind the meaning of this award for me personally. Not trying to be a name dropper..... it was just lucky me is all.

Then today I win this. Makes it a little “more special”.

The award......

Wasn’t sure how to really tell the story except to just tell it the way it went down.... Sometimes you get lucky just being in the right place at the right time. I like to connect the dots and close the circle... especially on the internet. So many people don’t know all the little details that make everything gel.

Thanks Stuart!!

Showed it this weekend — drove it 200 mile round trip today - the more I drive it (6,000 miles now) the more I love it! A car/truck has to DRIVE right for me to like them — and this truck just drives right. Changing out to the Penske shocks and different spring rates after the tour really made a huge difference — but it’s got to be a total package — sound - steering - comfort - ride - no rattles - no cow shake - no anything — just solid and smooth.... a lot of folks can’t get that all right in a hot rod. CHRA nailed it.

Congrats on the Award! Fantastic truck.

Good to finally meet you also. (I stopped by and said Hi when you were a few vehicles away from picking up that award)

My truck was the '66 F100 with 427 FE hidden behind cab of your truck in this pic

It always shocks me when someone posts “oh I saw you but you were busy and I didn’t want to bother you”! REALLY come on folks it’s a car show — the ONLY reason I go to them is to see my friends OR make new ones!!

Glad you came over and said hi!!

If I ever meet you at a car show Greg, I'm gonna do one of two things. Either ask for a ride in said vehicle that's there or ask for the keys to drive it myself. Then I'll say...hey, we're friends....remember?!

gofastwclass 03-21-2019 05:57 PM

THIS is exactly the attitude I feel everyone at car show should have. I tell friends of mine I simply won't drive my custom stuff or attend a car event if I'm not feeling social.

I’ve always shared my good fortune with my friends — I’ve let my friends drive my race cars — I let friends drive my hot rods — Rudy drove my Nomad for 2 years while we worked on his Camaro.....

So in other words... I’d probably toss ya the keys.

Welds 40 ford

I remember seeing ads in the back of the SCCA magazine
many moons ago where you could buy a place in the middle
of nowhere with a race track on the property... always
dreamed of having one of those

Don't see any of those adds anymore

That would be because it’s quite common these days to have a track with lots to build on.... and shop spaces etc. They’re building 2 new tracks right here in Phoenix.

Sounds like the Airplane guys
There is a Pantera guy in the midwest
with some air strips on his place. They
run the cars there some times

Track-Condos. They are doing a private build up near Lime Rock where you can get an "introductory" buy in for a really "good" deal. The units are beautiful and they are on the property with all kinds of amenities. Starting at 1.7m and up. Looks the ultimate boys club..

And Second but really first....

It was picked as an “Early Truck of the Year Finalist” today.....
