I'd be the same way..........a friend tried to talk me into doing the RS conversion on my car when I first got it 20+ years ago and I looked at the system in the factory build manual and started counting pieces and said to myself no f'n way I'll go insane. I'm sure the DSE system is much easier but.....

Good Luck!

its a pain to get them right but its doable.
if you make the two wholes on the core support bigger it gives you some much needed wiggle room . you'll be surprised how much alignment gets better with just a slight movement. once you get them where you want them. place a washer (with correct ID )to cover enlarged whole, trace perimeter and cut it out, weld washer of correct gauge to match core support and you'll have a nice pretty finish with correct whole location.
also playing with shims ( adding / subtracting ) on door shaft I also used a washer / shim on the core support bolts between core and housing to tilt up or down.
its going to take some pulling and pushing on the rest of it.
hope this helps

Oh I'm a master with the shims thats for sure Frank!! I did exactly what you said and it does help a ton. What worries me the most is Troy said every time he took something off the car it never went back the same. These assemblies mount to the core support witch mount to the sub frame so I'm trying to come up with way to,PIN/MARK everything that the assemblies mount to and hopefully it will help when they go back together:popcorn2:

Troy tried once to talk me out of it but did I listen.:bang: It's always been one of my favorite front ends since I can remember there was no way it wasn't going on my car.:D

I was pretty sure you would be the man with shim/ adjustments , being a body man by trade. I agree with you on the car going back together. It can move on you quite a bit. I'm also going to be doing some kind of marking or pin for the same reason. For my self It helps that I have personally broken it and built it some many times that kind of know the car.
Hope you make it out to west coast for some events. would like to see that thing in person.

Mario...I'm getting close to needing a rotisserie for my project and Marty graciously offered yours. When can I come pick it up? :underchair:

OMG! Thank you Brent!:guns:

Well here are some pictures of what doesn't seem like a whole lot of progress but let me tell you these headlites and grill have been a nightmare!!! What your looking at is the FINAL fit . The gill opening is made from fiberglass and just seems to change every time I take it out and put it back in. The picture on the top right shows how tight the line is . I can take the grill off and put it back on and the friggin line would be to wide WTF!!!! So after more than forty times taking it on and off and almost pitching it in the trash I finally got the POS to stay in one place. I had to fill and strengthen the back side to keep it from moving . By doing that it goes back in the same position everytime I take it on and off now. I'm finding out the little details take a lot of time . I'm on to the engine compartment next . I should have the first round of primer on in a couple of weeks.

Rick D 12-30-2014 08:24 AM

Looking great Mario!!!

I saw your rotisserie a couple of weeks and thought he won't need that for a while!! :D :underchair:

glassman 12-30-2014 02:01 PM

Thats gapalicious right there.

DFRESH 12-30-2014 05:26 PM

I know enough about gaps to know these are bootylicious. Perfect, like everything else on the car bro.

Although not my favorite type of gap ;) those do look pretty stellar Mario

Richio1 12-30-2014 10:56 PM

Oh I feel your pain and know how difficult that is. We had the same problems with my fiberglass grille surround. Had to do the same thing to stiffen it up.

Mine is back in the shop for some updates and panel realignment to close up some of the gaps. I need more of that gap spray to help tighten things up.

Yours look fantastic. Many just don't realize the amount of time and work that goes into achieving that. Looking forward to seeing more soon.

frankv11 01-01-2015 11:20 PM

Them Some nice gaps there !!

Rybar 01-02-2015 09:38 AM

Def not easy to get the RS doors and grille to line up nice. Looks perfect Mario

Well Mike and I have been making progress! It don't look like much but let me tell you the amount of details you have to pay attention to is incredible ! We spent an intire day just fitting the window trim!:bang: When you put these things on you don't realize how bad they fit so your constantly putting on, taking off, putting on taking off ,you get the picture!! When you start tightening things up its amazing how the smallest inperfection sticks out. Your not going to get away with ''thats close enuff'' its going to jump out if you don't address it. With all that being said we are going to have the first coat of primer on at the end of this month . We have the hardest details done. The last pain in the azz is going to be the drip rails. And thats going to be a battle I already know it ,but will get it done just like everything else it will just take some time.

tubbed69 02-14-2015 07:23 AM

Mario I am also glad to see progress,I know I have said it before but this is going to be one of the best Camaros ever built:thumbsup:

canrc 02-14-2015 07:58 AM

:G-Dub:

lol

waynieZ 02-14-2015 09:42 AM

It looks like you've already made some nice progress, it's looking great.

GregWeld 02-14-2015 09:54 AM

Drip rails? On a Ridler car? Even my race car has them shaved.... LOL

People can never fathom why these cars cost so much to build.... yet want perfection everywhere... and moan about seeing a "million dollar" car and make statements about "how could it cost that much"? I always just laugh. The hours and hours - days and weeks it takes to achieve perfection. You're lucky Mario that you can do these things yourself. When Rudy and I were doing his Camaro and we'd work all day... at the end of the day I'd look at him and say - "okay, that's two guys @ 8 hours..... so 16 hours of labor today @ $80 an hour" and we didn't get that much done!

The car is going to be spectacular Mario!!

syborg tt 02-14-2015 10:23 AM

Car is looking awesome.
