Well the car is out of commission for interior work. I talked to a couple shops and they wanted crazy money and the car for the rest of my life. So I decided to get as far as I can, of course being happy with the outcome and what I am not capable of or have time for someone can finish.

Well 600hp and 2 1/8 primaries makes some serious heat. The floors are coated inside and out, and I also have second skin dynapro or whatever they call it. The floor was still getting hot especially in the foot boards and tunnel. I decided to add a second layer of insulation. It's 3/8 inch thick with jute and foil on both sides. The whole floor and tunnel is done. I built up the rear floor pans to be even as they would be from the factory. Since I have the DSE connectors it puts a nice hump in the floor pan for the carpet. I then taped it all with aluminized heat tape.

I am also going to leave the jute on the carpet. Should be nice and cozy now. I already cut the carpet to short.:unibrow: I have a new set here.

I have spent alot of time looking at different stereo and speaker options. You really didn't think I was going to half ass the sound system did you.:D

I decided to go with an Alpine 2008 model with IPOD, HD radio, Blue tooth, etc. You can pick your songs right on the head unit. Pretty slick set up. It's wired up and ready to go.

I am also running the factory setup in the dash, except for I opted for the kenwood upgrade. The bracket that came with it was so flimsy I decided to make my own.

Now for the fun part. Everything else is top of the line JL Audio. I am going to have 2 4" speakers in the kicks with tweeters. 2 6x9's in the rear dash with tweeters. 10" sub in the trunk along with my 1320 watt amp. Should get the job done. Once I get the carpet back in and seats all the rest of the sounds system. I am going to take it somewhere to build the box. The amp will be mounted to it and maybe the trunk carpeted.

I have to say that I have never been that interested in interior or sound systems. I am enjoying it so far.

You should enjoy it! I am a big fan of JL products and have had some over the years!

Be interesting to see how mount all those speakers.

You going to have that thing all back together in time for Cars and Coffee on Saturday? I'm in town and would really like to hit it this weekend. Maybe a cruise with Tyler and Jeff and a few video cameras.

skatinjay27 10-16-2008 09:01 PM

are you gonna run the dash speakers and the kicks of the in-dash reciever, and then the 6x9 and sub off the amp? did you get custom kick panels?
should sound killer! and that amp was probally a pretty penny.

Vegas69 10-16-2008 09:30 PM

Not a chance of having it back together. I'm hoping by Sema :_paranoid Looking like a good chance of me working Saturday anyway.
AJ...it's a 6 channel amp. Right now I am planning to run the dash speakers off the deck....kicks off 2 channels, 6x9's off two channels, and bridge the last two for the sub. That gives me 70rms per small speaker and 150 rms for the sub. I may end up running the 4 fronts in parallel since they are rated at 35-40rms. Going to call JL on that. No custom kicks. Plenty of room for these speakers in the stock kicks. Which leads me to another story. Brand new kicks and the drivers side is to thick and the door won't shut. Thought it was the door panel. Nope...molded wrong. Passenger fits perfect. Ordered a second hoping it was molded better. I tweaked it and cut on it and it still wouldn't work. This is my first stereo install believe it or not. I'm a gear head but pretty excited about this whole deal.

I can't wait to see this installed.

The foil stuff lets plenty of heat through until

you put the juke and carpet over it...and then it will be nice and cool. I drove mine like that for a while and was dissapointed with how much heat came through.

You stereo set up is almost identical to mine. I am running vinatge air, so I made pods in the cowl area. 5.25 Memphis seperates. Used stock non air kicks and trimed the back of them. Where the vent levers on the kicks were, I mounted the tweeters. Have 2 4 inch JL Audios in the dash, 2 6x9 in the rear deck and 10 sub firing through back seat.

Deck power runs the 4 inchers in the center dash and 6 Channel JL Audio does the rest...just like you plan.

My car is so loud driving that you really do not get the benefit of how good the system is....

I think you will find that you will need to turn up the gain on the front speakers in the kicks. The center speakers, even running on the deck power, will be very loud and over power the others.

Good luck and keep us posted.
