I know you guys are the pros - but......
I could never understand thrashing on a car to hit the open track. Its not like a race where its the most important thing in the world and the center of your existence. Thrashing to get a car ready for show is one thing, but going out to go 150 mph in a just put together car is dangerous. Every car needs some shakedown. I don't know - I maintain and build my car religously and I still find things that scare me - stuff working loose or interfering, new leaks. I guess I just wouldn't be pushing your luck to get on track. Get the car ready and then go. There is no shortage of events in your area. |

I always comment those Nascar and Big time race car guys, they hit the track and the car is ready for turn one. No break in or shake down. It is game on in turn one. Plus they hit their set up pretty stinkin close most every time right off the trailer. |

I'm a little surprised Alston wants you to bring a car that is so fresh to a suspension shoot out. I get that it is a big event that will generate a ton of publicity, but if the springs, bars and tire package are just a little unbalanced right out of the box so-to-speak, it will definitely put them way behind on the charts. Then again maybe they just have a lot of confidence in their system.

That's why we had the trackday setup for next friday at buttonwillow with a few different springs on hand. Plus we were looking at getting some help from a really smart Pozzi that day at the track. But my wiring guy has to get better and we need some luck on our hands. Or there is always another event.

How about an update?
ok I'll guess I'll make an update. Since Roger is so impressed with my iracing skills he is going to let me be the driver on this project. Roger will be around to check tire pressure and crawl under the car to make shock adjustments. |

Well All I can say is this thing is a Rocket. Wow.
Next week before the Fernley Event We plan to change the rear springs and get the suspension a little more set for a base line. We need to put a small .065 spacer behind the throw out bearing to improve the clutch freeplay and raise the pedal release height. Some more pics from yesterday for insurance purposes. http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ber2010101.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ber2010102.jpg http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ber2010103.jpg We also need to move the back of the fender lip opening in the front back just a tick, it rubs a smidge at full lock. Next weekend will be fun. |
Nice update.
In the pics, the camaro looks like it sits high. Do you have any profile pics taken from the ground? |
