Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!

Better to get it right then to rush it.

Ron in SoCal 09-07-2014 05:50 PM

Sorry to hear that Al, but 'in the Universe' doesn't come quick or cheap in today's world. SEMA and your followers will wait and enjoy it just as much when the time comes. You and the boys keep up the good work!

Bummer on the Sema thing and wrapping the car is not a bad idea since you plan to race it. It will actually protect the car to some degree.

raustinss 09-08-2014 09:24 AM

I agree...wrap it and create the buzz at sema....then see where things go

Al Moreno 09-08-2014 10:23 AM

Thanks guys for the words of encouragement! We looked into wrapping but it last year as a possible solution but the car still needed to be painted as the wrap will show if there areas the are primered. It will even show the orange peel through the wrap.

Wow, its been a while since I have updated this thread. Progress a little slow since the boys started back up in college. Hoping to get her done when they take the summer off.

They redid the shock tower. First time the skimmed the seam

With the concern for cracking under stress, the seams were cleaned and stitch welded and finally reskimming the smooth.

The trans and diff cooler brackets had compound bends which required a finger bender. We couldn't find one anywhere. I buddies at Derale came to the rescue and pulled it off.

Every component in the engine bay was vapor blasted. This machine is about $30,000 but leave a finish that very fine.

Most all the CF parts are in.

Doors will drop about 90 lbs.

We had these parts made for G5.R in dry carbon. Roof, hood and trunk will drop approx 40 plus lbs.

Since it wont have any headliner, you will see the weave when sitting in the car. Kinda cool.

The factory powder coating was removed on the wicker bill. It was then brushed and anodized. Has a very nice contrast against the CF spoiler.
