Moving on to the Headlight Harness ( 04-18-20 )
http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...39d4cce-me.jpg This is the adapter that comes with the DSE Truck Lights for the 2nd Gen Camaro's. Instead of bare wires I put a small piece of Tech Flex wrap on them. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...df8bf70-me.jpg I run the wires under the core support lip for a nice clean look if you happen to look through the grille. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...1ca3fa9-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...8210a71-me.jpg Keeping with the somewhat stock appearing theme under the hood I trimmed the Wire Gutter down a little bit. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...a46e25c-me.jpg Next up is the DSE Wiper Motor & Harness. I will be removing the plastic wire wrap as it's so 1990's. Just kidding. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...db3246b-me.jpg Sometimes it's nice to have a helper even of one of them doesn't have hands. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...eeceec6-me.jpg Really trying to figure out a clean way to route the wires. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...43f0500-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...de83fca-me.jpg In order for me not to lose pieces and parts I bag them and tape them to the windshield. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...fbeab90-me.jpg |
Quick update.
I finally went back and fixed all the broken image links on all posts. It only took me a week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Little bit of everything ( 04-18-20 )
So, I finally test fitted the Kicker Center Channel http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...abcf5a4-me.jpg Started installing all the Vintage Air Lines to make sure everything fits nicely. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...a294133-me.jpg Running the wires that will eventually hidden above the inner fender. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...9f3107f-me.jpg Reminders that I need to fuse this wire http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...1ca3fa9-me.jpg Apparently Classic Dash makes a new dash insert for the new Holley Dash. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...06b46fd-me.jpg Picked up some more Chunky Bars and some wire http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...bffda6e-me.jpg More parts for Pro-Tek Powder Coater http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...8f9e203-me.jpg So I misplaced the hardware for the DSE Wiper Motor. So another trip to Ace Hardware. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...41c7e6f-me.jpg Need to open these up a little more for DSE Truck lights. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...58c69e8-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...13c8bd9-me.jpg All better now with plenty of light adjust me room. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...1857a26-me.jpg I like reference pictures by sometimes a diagram is worth it's weight in gold. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...675b750-me.jpg Found a couple more parts for Pro-Tek Powder Coating http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...496e85c-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...c1ce49a-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...2e4ad35-me.jpg |

More parts for Pro-Tek Powder Coating. ( 04-22-20 )
In order to make it easy for the guys at Pro-Tek I drilled a hole so the parts could hang. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...0a14a9c-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...da93025-me.jpg Might as well give him the one off upper and lower radiator hoses. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...d9e5e54-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...fb2f7ab-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...9d46837-me.jpg So i have been asked a couple times what is the part number of the grommet that I used for the Holley EFI Harness. This was one of those moments where I just stopped looking. ( 04-25-20 )
Way back in 2011 when I took the car apart i misplaced the center channel speaker and the silly bracket that supports the center. So I ordered a replacement center channel from "Classic Car Stereo's Com" just for the bracket. Ron Wilson will get the speakers and he will have to look for the bracket I lost. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...5a987ae-me.jpg It would really suck if the bracket wasn't in there. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...c7f27b6-me.jpg Test Fitting the Radiator Shroud that Kenny Built. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...de60a26-me.jpg More notes http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...7380896-me.jpg |
I wanted to use the bracket I made so the supplied bracket needed to be modified. ( 04-28-20 )

Headlight Buckets & Core Support (05-03-20)
Sorry I am so far behind posting updates on the car. I had a lot of fun on the bike's this summer from trails to road I feel like i bike more now then I was years ago.
It's time to start mocking up the wiring and make sure I planned well as I trying to hide some of the wiring so when you look in at the radiator you don't actually see the wires. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...eaa47c0-me.jpg and yes that is baked chips and pico de gallo. Headlight buckets going back together and the goal is to not scratch them prior to putting them on the car. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...4eed627-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...688faf2-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...bbae132-me.jpg Everyone should own one of these http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...095b649-me.jpg I am happy I opened these up a little bit more. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...c17f981-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...0d1aaec-me.jpg Since my memory sucks post chemo I like to make patterns so I can remember exactly how things go back together. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...d59f9e6-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...20e206a-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...84f21a9-me.jpg Front Bumper brackets http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...3e16f6c-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...58612c9-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...72890f8-me.jpg Good thing "Chip" will be covered up by the Anvil Close Out panel. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...5bd72a3-me.jpg more notes http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...7d64a42-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...8a8e8a3-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...435f512-me.jpg |
cont.
Fewer and fewer parts are left in the attic. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...ee35763-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...8cd23e3-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...aa90530-me.jpg The plan is to eventually put a flat hood on the car and since I have one I am working on making templates for DEI to make an UNderhood Thermal Accoustic Lining kit for the 2nd gen Camaro's. I really really hate making paper templates and it is so hard to get them exact. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...0db1714-me.jpg yep this sucks. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...979a8a3-me.jpg If you want to make and exact pattern this is so much easier. Make sure you put down layers in both direction so your pattern become thicker and more rigid. Once you have a minimum of 2 layers of tape get out your exacto knife and trim it out and you will have a perfect template. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...d61c7ca-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...5d6a25b-me.jpg The final step is to lay them sticky side up and put one layer of tape over the adhesive and your almost done. I like to overlap and actually tape it to a piece of cardboard. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...93ca8f8-me.jpg Flip it over and trim off the excess. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...bc890ec-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...a52d331-me.jpg |
Core Support Brackets (05-09-20)
Finally I am installing the core support brackets which will help stop the leaning or flopping while i can working on the parts on the core support.
Thank You Pro-Tek Powder Coating for getting these done so fast. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...084c390-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...fca387e-me.jpg So this was my solution for the washer falling down the frame rails over and over. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...d2b2d92-me.jpg No more flop and now I can install the hood latch bracket. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...33a5ba8-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...cbb5285-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...c5d5bda-me.jpg |
Everything is top notch and looking good Marty...

I make tape patterns too, but I don't flip them over for more tape. I normally either A. put them on paper if I need to make more then one or don't have the material on hand or stick them right to the metal I'm cutting out.
I can see where that label maker would have been real handy lol. |

Great build thread - too many posts to get through at once (and haven’t been able to make my way through all of them), but love the detailed posts!

I just saw the first picture on this page and that was my first thought! Thank you for that laugh I just finished.
I just went back a page to see what I missed. Nice looking parts they look good on the car. |
Your build is coming out great. I can't remember crap so, I like your use of blue tape and making notes. I'm going to use that tip, thanks!
|
Love the attention to detail. That's something that usually costs little more than extra time, but the finished product is sooo much nicer!

Kicker Center Channel ( 2020 05-12 )
So I have some parts back from the Power Coater and I just love picking up stuff from him and it always looks so nice.
http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...2c66f1a-me.jpg as you can see I need to clean off all of my finger prints http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...eeddaa3-me.jpg Thankfully I label all of the bags so I can remember where the parts go. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...d09ae56-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...8d67199-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...4f5f5c3-me.jpg Ugh time to go back into the trunk. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...6d1edb5-me.jpg This is the kicker set up that is fully bluetooth with no head unit. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...eec1a35-me.jpg So this was fun hiding all of the wire in the rear quarter. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...b1385b1-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...f9401c0-me.jpg |
Every Car Needs a Hella Horn (05-17-20)
Since i lost the original horn set up for the car I decided to buy a set of Hella Horns for the car as they have a unique sounds and they are small and look nice.
http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...d94f11f-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...4969a4f-me.jpg I needed to bend the bracket that came with the horn. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...e626674-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...de6ac99-me.jpg As you can see they blend in perfectly. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...65bd672-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...8ec42e9-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...991288e-me.jpg and of course I pulled out the blue tape to write myself a reminder note http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...e7d6e0d-me.jpg Since I sell packaging and I am always looking for idea's to share with my customers. I like the idea that instruction are printed on the box. The way I see it if they have the parts they can't say it didn't come with instructions. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...e933381-me.jpg |
Wires Wires Wires ( 05-17-20 )
So it's time for me to start cleaning up the wiring and make it looks neat & tidy.
http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...7f11b46-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...b149226-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...621f7d5-me.jpg So I had an original flat hood that I was planning on using but it looks like I may be buying a new hood. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...fd0dc94-me.jpg I also decided to step back and take a look at the car and see what I can add to my list of things I want to do to the car. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...8256da5-me.jpg |
Kicker Dry Run Does It Make Music ( 05-24-20 )
The plan is to do a dry sound check and make sure the Kicker Blue Tooth Sound System works and works well enough to keep Mike & I entertained on the 2021 Power Tour and Possible the Good-Guys Road Tour.
I needed a way to connect the amp to the Kicker main unit and all I could find in my bin of parts/wire was a 3 foot RCA wire. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...6039fc8-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...d0705cc-me.jpg Yes I used wire nuts just to connect the speaker wire and no they are not permanent. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...bad731b-me.jpg Pulled out my 5 year old Optima Battery to power up the system. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...bb9ab2e-me.jpg Good News we have power. I am not exactly sure where I am going to mount the controller at this point. Possible in the center console that Kenny built. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...5acf987-me.jpg As you will see it worked and it sounds great. |
I'm jalous, can't wait to do the finals touches like this on mine.
Looking good |

Kicker Dry Run Does It Make Music ( 05-24-20 ) - Part 2
Time to get the wire cut to length and tidy things up a little bit.

05-28-20 Well this has got to change

http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...50481bb-me.jpg So I need a second hand and I also need a pair of glasses. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...a554f5e-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...4b24a02-me.jpg Picture of my workbench and Metal Peg Board Wall. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...d05b0e1-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...68f6112-me.jpg I need to buy the small Female to Female adapter to connect the 100 watt amp to the main amp. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...20f4b84-me.jpg Cover me Honey I am going back in. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...030b1e1-me.jpg Putting my new helping hand to work. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...c009bcb-me.jpg Apparently my dog figured I was in the trunk taking a nap so he did the same in the Cayman. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...a671a6d-me.jpg Front Speakers Connected. http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...4999496-me.jpg http://www.garagescene.net/_data/i/u...75d23e6-me.jpg So valuable lesson learned. Love the progress and the detailed pics! The paracord tip is a great one!

Marty, are you gonna put two 15" subwoofers in the back and be beating all over town like the youngsters? :beavis::beavis:
