Actually the cow catcher is a "homage" to the car that became my car after the owner had "my car" torn apart - sold off in pieces - and had SAR build him a new version. Long story... but here's a pic of the car that was built for him. So I stole the cow catcher fair and square off this version (sans the louvers since my car has none anywhere else). http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a.../new32ford.jpg |
Okay --- So I know this isn't pro touring and most of you aren't interested -- but here goes with some more updates. The good craftsman over at SAR are busy guys!
Here's the front "valance"? for lack of a better description. Note they bobbed the frame horns a bit... MUCH better in my opinion (the only one that really counts since I have to claim ownership!:willy: :D ) http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_0470.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_0475.jpg Not sure who this guy is.... :unibrow: (J/K) But he knows a thing or two about metal... and he's going to start to mock up the headers. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_0472.jpg A mock up of the console.... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_0467.jpg The completely refurbished heater has been hung by the chimney with care... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...d/IMG_0468.jpg So wheels and tires are on order -- the headers are being mocked up -- all the fuel injection stuff is here... and we're busy redesigning the exhaust tips -- for something other than the "Ferrari 458" version. Stay tuned for that. The shifter falls right to my hand -- PERFECT! Love it... and the pedals were repositioned to be more correct. Also picked out the square weave carpet -- from the "air craft" version -- which is a much smaller tighter weave. And picked out the banjo style steering wheel which will be wrapped with leather to match the upholstery. So all in all -- moving right along. I want the car DONE for Wheels and Waves in Santa Barbara, California mid May.... so I need to stop "adding" to the project. :faint: |
The hood has been completely re-done... with all the hardware and support stuff hidden... and as usual for SAR -- the gaps are flawless! Not a good pic but I only just had my phone...

Nice progress!! It's looking great!
Will the upholstery be completely redone? Looks like Tim is working right up to the final minute before the crew heads south! Have a good trip you guys! |

Almost 18000 page views.... for whatever the reason, this thread has gained Renner like popularity.
 |
Yup, he's only 182,000 views short of Todd's Payback. :wow:

Looks great Greg. I look forward to more updates.
Have fun. (I know you are!) |

No Tones... That is Tim Bruning starting the mock up of my headers. I'm just writing checks on this build..... Not touching a single tool on it! This was an impulse buy....no plans for it.... And have projects in "the shed" lined up like planes at O'hare.. So just took it to SAR and let them rock and roll. That way I can enjoy this Impulse sometime in my lifetime. :woot: |
