Heater box
Hey Ron,
I must've missed it in the thread somewhere. Been through the whole thread. Took me all day. Which heater box did you opt for in Dead Pool? I like how compact it is. David |
Ron, I think your pm's full.

I did get out there that Saturday. Probably a good six hour day. The only thing I can remember accomplishing is finishing up the accessory drive. One of those learning, wrenching, running around days. The accessory drive was mocked up, but not finished. What I learned...the main balancer on an LS7 requires a torque to yield bolt and the factory requires a special removal and install tool. I also leaerned the local dealer lead corvette tech is a cool dude (read: tool loaner). Here's the finished pic: http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps392e3a6b.jpg Quote:

Spring arrived early this year (this gets better) and one morning about a month ago it was just too nice to stay inside. Mid-80s and not a cloud in the sky, so I decide to pack up the truck and take a ride south. My 12 year old daughter asked where I was going and I said casually, ‘oh, nowhere sweetheart.” She wasn’t buying it, so she grabbed her shoes and hopped in the truck. We decided it was just so nice out that we’d take the beach route for a bit. After about an hour it was time to stop for gas. I pulled up to the pump, parked and went inside to grab a few supplies. http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps7f6fee0b.jpg Just as I got to the door a particularly seedy individual was coming out. He was from another part of town (I could just tell) and about my height and ½ my weight. He was wearing baggy pants and shirt and we bumped into each other at the door. Behind him was another guy, same side other tracks I was sure, but he was about 6’5” and about two fiddy. Dude #1 bumps into dude #2 and dude #1 gives me a scowl while and his buddy behind him was gettin' ready. Also, upon contact I felt a sold steel protrusion in his belt line. Gotta think fast here… “You packing,” I said? No response. “I just bought a Sig 226 .40.” Dude smiles (whew). “Really,” he said and pulls out the same gun. Brutus behind him relaxes a bit. I’m like, maybe I’ll wake up tomorrow at home. “I don’t carry in public though.” He says “yeah we’re on our way to the range.” From there we talked about concealed carry, gun control today and the Dems, P226 recoil, cars, you name it. Turns out Brutus is a PhD and we spent the next 30 minutes debating the merits of value vs. dividend investing, the future of the real estate market, cars and so on. Man that dude has some interesting theories on quantitative easing and today’s geo-political environment, but I digress. When we were about done me and the dudes do a fist bump and my daughter and I moved on down the road. Anyways, after about another hour on the road we ended up at Best of Show. Good a place as any to stop I figure. Dick greets me with that same old smile and says, “Ron when you gonna get that pile on the road?” I dunno Dick, whaddaya think?” He says, “well if it was up to me, we’d have it rolling in no time so you can finally enjoy this thing.” Sounds good to me, so we unloaded the car, did a quick inventory of parts and I was on my way. True story. |
I finally got a chance to stop by today and see what's up. Dick has a plan and he's knocking out the wiring first.
Engine bay is about 90% done: http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps53567425.jpg Front is just about all powered up: http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps7c393ae3.jpg ...and the underdash is a typical maze, but still has a bit to go: http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...psd546af50.jpg Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic. Dick likes to work front to center, rear to center and then do final connections. Next will be final engine fluids plumbing and then the big day comes; thats still a ways off but we're getting closer. We talked through a bunch of other stuff and he knows exactly what I want. Safe to say we're in tune. That reminds me of another story... |
That's very good news on the drop off at BOS. Now you'll definitely be on the road soon, and they'll nail the final work. Very happy to read this update. Cool story about the guy you bumped into. When I first started reading it I thought you were going to tell us you stumbled upon a robbery or something. Glad it was something much friendlier. :)

Ron,
With all your secretive travels, plus the above edgy encounters, you are lat-g's International man of mystery... http://www.mattfind.com/12345673215-...692_722403.jpg And for your tales... :king: :D |
Good story Ron :popcorn2:
Glad to hear it is back in capable hands. Just going to take a little more :G-Dub: but it will be done sooner then later which is way better then staring at it in your garage wishing it was done. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter. |
Great stuff Ron, keep that baby rolling.
|
Nice update, I knew you were up to something :cheering:
You'll be doing this in no time :drive: :hello: |
That "true story" seems suspect Ron....hard to believe. :sarcasm_smiley: Just giving you a hard time. BOS will have the ride fired up in no time. Keep us posted.
