Pro-Touring?

I'd say PRO-TRAILERING! I'll say it and let somebody prove me wrong. I know those cars while nicely done will never get driven like we have proof Penny and real Pro-Touring cars will. If I'm wrong, somebody prove it. This is why the new SMOY rules are going to rock! See you in Colombus, we'll see who has something that is meant to be driven!:lateral: Steve, you won in my book. Ask those other guys how r-compound tires do in the rain?:wow:

I see your point, but it is an indoor car show. Just be glad chicayne was just there for display. That car is driven hard and the fit and finish is awesome. That car defines Pro-touring in my book.

Roger,

I couldn't agree more. I must have hit reply instead of quote. I meant to quote Steve's post showing the "Pro-Touring" cars. Chicayne is one of my favorites that I have seen up close. My comment was also pointed at the defenition of "Pro-Touring" at the indoor show. Even Steve's class "Street Touring", I find it hard to believe those cars wil be driven on the street, unless it is to load on the trailer. Do you think John's car will be ready to "bring it" in Colombus this year? I promise I won't tell John if the answer is no! By the way, does anyone have any video of Chicane? I'm in withdrawl here in the western, PA winter!

If the new SMOY rules weren't catering to the pro touring crowd it would be great, If a guy has a kick ass say 55 Chevy 10.5 style street machine or a a killer pro street style car he is screwed with this autocross crap, do a 100 mile cruise, few look cool drag strip passes like with the HROY award and call it good. Might as well call it ProTouringofYear award.

You make good points and I won't argue. I did just check out the good-guys site and it says for both categories you mentioned that results won't determine the winner, but style points count. I would say for both awards the point is to drive them a bit harder than around the fairgrounds. No "rules" are ever perfect for everyone, but this set at least keeps the indoor shows indoors. To each their own!

Just to clarify.

All of our cars, including the Corpala pictured above get driven HARD. We will be taking the Corpala to Portland International Raceway later this year to get some performance numbers.

Car is well done but the styling doesn't do much for me....nor does the color.
