Rodger can you call that bad ass engine builder of yours and ask what kind of money I'm looking at for changing those three parts. Remember, the guys that built my engine said it would hold up no problem but they didn't know I was adding a procharger to the mix. Come to think of it, I'm not sure what the compression with the custom cam I have installed. The cam I used it was apecified by the guys at AFR and Comp Cams. Engine work reminds me of fabrication.... it always takes a long time to get the parst and install them. If we need to swap parts maybe we should rush the engine over to them as soon as the procharger brackets are completed. Rich |

Any pics & info on the DIY mini-tubs? Did you buy stock inner wheel houses & add some metal? I think that idea is a winner.

We bought a sheet of 18 gauge and cut the old tubs out to what will clear the G bar would allow and would give us the most room vertically. We bent a 90 degree flange formed it on the eckold to the old flange of the out wheel tub, then formed the inside panel to fit the opening, hammered the radius into the inside panel, shrinking it as you go. Then welded in a filler strip inbetween the flange and the inside panel. Tig welded the whole panel togther and metal finished it. We then trimmed it to fit, and welded it in place.
These tubs could be build with a regular hand operated lancaster shrinker stretcher, and a radiused hammer & dolly, the tools we have just speed up the process considerably. Thanks guys, Like I have said before this kind of project is very easy and kind of motivating because the light at the end of the tunnel is so much closer. |
Rich, I'd be worried running that kind of power on a stock bottom end.
If you are budget minded why not just run forged pistons and stock crank/rods fully upgraded with ARP hardware throughout? I think alot of guys are running big power with this combo, but I would do some research first. Sounds like a kick-ass motor though, oh yeah and the car is sick too! :cheers: |
