My 69 camaro is sitting there outside while me and some buddies was working on rides. The 69 is complete with new paint, new motor, New wheels! It was before I ripped it apart for the big build and it was road ready! A guy up the road had just bought a basket case 69 without a doghouse, drivetrain, or glass. He had the gall to ask if I would sell him the windshield out of mine!

At a car show with my corvair I had a guy run up to me screaming for me to call the cops. My motor was gone! I used to put the hood(front) up about a foot and the back all the way up! Always brought these questions!

I have a 69 chevy 4wd on 44s and diesel! The question come quick when you pull up to the wrong(to them) pump!

This happens nearly every time I drive my GMC Typhoon:

"Nice Blazer. Where did you get that body kit?"

I just say thanks and tell them to look up 'Typhoon' and see what they find.

Gets old real quick.

I took my 69 Camaro to the local Chevy dealer (where my friend worked) when I was moving to get his help changing the TCC valve (to use the lift...etc). I had to check it into the service lane.

The cute young girl came out with the plastic for the seat and note pad. She took the info from the car then filled out the form.

When she printed it out and handed to me to sign it said.

Mustang

I didn't even bother to have her change it!

Flathead or Hemi

My buddy has his old ford flathead motor in the bed of his truck taking it to the shop to get it built. He stops for lunch and this guy and his girlfriend walk buy his truck and see the motor, this guy tells my buddy nice hemi. He told the guy is was a flathead ford not a hemi. The guy looks at his girlfriend and says that dude doesn't even know what kind motor he has.

I recently bought a 69 Firebird in Cali, towed it to Portland where I bought a 68 which I drove home to Idaho while my buddy towed the 69. Crack heads were coming out of the wood work everywhere we stopped. I don't mind talking about my cars for a min but it's constantly people saying the dumbest stuff. I try not to get annoyed but it's almost enough to make me not even want to drive my cars.

I have to update mine. Recent developments have eclipsed all stupid comments made about my wagon in the past.

When we were returning from the Sandhills Open Road Challenge in Nebraska (awesome event, btw..www.sorcrace.com), we stopped for breakfast/fuel at a Sapp Bros. truck stop (highly recommended for breakfast, by the way...). While my partner was filling up the tank, I went to have a smoke by the front door of the restaurant. This particular raggedy ass piece of white trash joined me, and as the wagon rolled by on the trailer, he saw it with the race numbers affixed to the doors and said "Well, I guess they're gonna demo derby it. Too bad- its in pretty good shape..."

I know you can't technically spit up cigarette smoke, but that's pretty much what I did...

Best one two that I have heard:

1) toward a friends 64 Farilane Wagon - "you know when we first looked at your car we didn't like it, but now that we've had a few drinks it looks pretty good."

2) towards our Corvette with the as-bought resale red paint that was bubbling on the hood.
(old guy) Hey, that's a nice looking Corvette, but its a shame that there are all those rust bubbles on the hood.
