EEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! !!

Funny -- It's someone elses car - I never really care what they end up with - as long as they're making an INFORMED decision.... and are happy with the result. I just hate to see people make a big costly mistake because I've made them all before myself.

That's why this is a great site with a lot of helpful people like yourself Greg. It's nice to have a place where I can bounce question's off everyone and get opinions from everyone who has "been there do that."

Thanks.

Looks like with over half of the votes the T56 is the tranny of choice.

Personally I am putting in a TKO600.

machota154 06-14-2010 08:37 AM

I have the TKO 600 in my Macho TA. It works great with my 3.42 gears. At 72mph it is only turning 2000 rpm. Not that there is anything wrong with my TKO, but I am taking it out and putting in a 4l80e. Shifting is great but I drive a truck for a living and sometimes it is great just to put in drive and go !!!!!!!:D

I haven't purchased a tranny just yet but still leaning towards the TKO 600.

This might sirpize a couple , but i have been road racing ad manual shifting my BTO level3 tr2004r with a stout 461ci 530 hp 577 lbs torque for some time, its flawless and perfect not to use a clutch and breaking on the trans a bit as wel!!.

COOLING is the secred here and not transbraking to agresif.
Im so impressed that im considering (for my new 730 hp 650 lbs torque 7000rpm engine combo) to buy a stronger one from exstreem automatics that can handle 1000 hp!!.
looking at the monsteres clutchles 6 speed from keisler with a price tag of 8000 usd to it the 3950usd for the tr2004r isend al that bad.
also most automatics seem to be able to take more torque then manuals..

Ron,
If you do decide to go with a tko600 give a look at Liberty Gear. They have an exclusive (patent) cluster bearing mod that prevents the cluster shaft from getting pushed out the bottom of the case and seals it up properly. especially if your running some ungodly amount of torque. They have figured out all the shifting design flaws in the rails as well. Great group of guys to chat with.

The t56 Magnum is also a great choice.

Ron,

Thanks for the thread, I've been researching and debating trannys for my '69 Camaro for a few years.

After reading all the good info in your thread..............I'm still leaning towards the T56 after having a .50 6th T56 in a '94 "Service Package" Camaro. Stielow's cars are my primary inspiration and he appears to have good success with T56's.
