See.. I don't get why people think these cars are investments.. they SHOULD lose money. It's a hobby, you build it drive it, beat it and then sell it for less than you have in it. Makes sense to me.

Keep in mind that Reactor was built years ago and has already sucked up the spotlight. If it was fresh and unshown it might have brought in more $$$$.

This is a hobby, not a 401k deal. lol

I never said anything about cars and investing and making money on them. I think it is a great hobby and you should drive the hell out of them, but not everyone is that way.

The guys who spend the money like Doug does has alot more to burn than most. I think 230 is fair price and thank god for guys like Doug who build cars like these, it raises the bar and price of alot of cars we drive and build!

LOL

I'm at Barrett Jackson -- but am now home (well back at my home here) not "home"... watching the auction on TV. Waiting to see what my old heep goes for and then I'm "car'd out" for the weekend. :wow:

You hit the nail on the head Greg with your assessment of build cost vs reality...

It was great to "hang" with you yesterday:thumbsup:

I worked on both cars for Doug, the 35 coupe is just pure badass,Lakeside rods built the car we did the inside,We also did the Mustang,Sometimes people have to remember that this is what happens with these cars,In order to build new ones, you have to sell the ones in the way for the next one.I thought he did well on the money for todays market.Somebody got some nice rides

My thoughts exactly. But I feel like if a guy were to home build a badass car such as a Mustang or a Camaro and say only have 35 to 45 thousand in it he should be able to carry it to BJ and make some coin. High dollar shop built cars like this one, I can see not getting back 100% of the money invested and I know the owner didnt have the car built to make money on it.

And he knew he wasn't going to get his money back.

It's still one of the, if not the highest selling custom cars to be sold at BJ.

If i remember right, Reactor was at Russo Steele 2 years ago and had a high bid of 300K. I didn"t meet reserve of 350k. Alot has changed in the last couple of years and I think he got some good coin for a car that has already been exposed everywhere. Personally I think Copperback was the better purchase for the money, but I'm partial to the color!

The only people making money on hot rods this weekend are the pimps at barrett-jackson. oh ya speed is too. three cars then they go to a com.
