well considering that the 396 block is 4" bore and the 454 is 4.250 from a start the bored and stroked 396 probably doesn't have any more meat then if they had build it on a 454 base from a start. plus the newer the castings is I'm sure would be better. Also Considering that the seller says that he spent $150K on parts I have no clue why he doesn't have an all aluminum big inch big block in it.
