Todd --

Using the info I posted before.

2000 RPMS/3:90/30" tire -- 5th in the T56 (.74 5th gear) is 61 MPH

So you can start to see -- it's just a bit "goofy"... I just don't do "goofy". The whole body is coming off the car -- motor set back -- rear cut out and new goes in - so why not just do it right the first time.

I just don't like the shifting of a TKO vs. a T56. I'd at least send it out to have it blue printed and worked over. :D

LOL --- I know you do!

You bought that Blue 3 window coupe with the flames and the red interior - that I was GOING to bid on (Hot August Nights) -- til you told me "I'm going to buy that". My heart sunk...

Hey! Stacked was from up "here".... I remember it well. Killer killer car!

So your setting the motor back that means a whole new fire wall.
wow this project really changed. So your going to end up painting the whole car then?

Nope.... just going back a pinch - ditching the HEI big cap distributor. That's not set in stone yet - but that was a 'fix' for the header interference / hood side issue. It might not HAVE to be done now that we're ditching the hood sides. BUT
it depends on the new fan shroud etc. It's no big deal to whack the mounts and move them back just a bit if we want to.

Greg,

I can't believe I missed this thread. Nice purchase. While I agree with all that you are doing, I am a bit disappointed! :( SAR does fantastic work, but why is this not being done in the shed? You are more than capable of doing all this. Plus if it was in the shed, we could get update shots daily! After all you gotta remember it is all about US! Keep us updated, love 32's!

Chad,

First = Thanks!

It was totally a "whim".

Now --- yes I'm more than capable of doing this in the shed. However.... there is a few things that enter into the decision to have the tweaks done.

#1 -- I have a busy winter for whatever reason -- it's just "full" -- more so than normal.

#2 -- I want to be driving this by MAY

#3 -- The Shed is occupied right now...

#4 -- I just really don't feel like doing it. :D

#5 -- This way I can really say -- the car was built by SAR

#6 -- I know nothing about them -- what they're supposed to be etc so I have to defer to better judgement i.e., The pros at SAR. Steve knows these cars.

#7 -- I would only be "saving" the labor... and this is not that big of a deal in the scheme of things. I'd still have to purchase all the parts.

#8 -- After doing the work - I'd still have to have the chassis painted - so this way I'm saving the paint jail and the excuses. I only have to spank one shop IF it's delayed for some reason.

#9 -- Did I mention that I just don't feel like it? :D
