wow- what a cool project! What a clean start.

Outstanding work. That's a pretty clean truck to begin with. I can only imagine how awesome this truck is going to look.

I really like this idea, and great work. That would be a fun daily driver.

Once back from being blasted, we mounted the body to the chassis and began the metal work. This was a pretty solid truck, but still had a few issues here and there. A lot of the standard stuff like bottoms of fenders, rockers and a few pin holes around the truck.
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture220935.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture220948.jpg The driver's side needed a new lower fender section, door skin, floor section where it meets the rockers, and a few small rust areas in the quarter. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture221115.jpg We also decided to widen the rear wheel opening so the 24" tire looked right. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture221107.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture221123.jpg http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture221229.jpg |
The passenger side needed about the same work. A little more in the quarters where there must have been a leaking window that caused a lot of pin holes in the top of the quarter. This is a prime example of why we take cars down to bare metal. The previous restoration used spray foam to fill up the pinholes from the inside and was then painted over. We never would have know unless the car was taken down to bar metal.
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture221134.jpg Once the metal was cut out, we found all of this Great Stuff Foam. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture221358.jpg New panel tacked in place ready for final welding and metal finishing. http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...ture221398.jpg |
The engine that is going to power this beast! a 572 with a F2 Pro-Charger looking to make 800 - 900 HP.

Looks great. Man what's with people and spray foam lately?
|
