Flew home last night. The gang at Holley headquarters were nice enough to store Hellfire and Greg's car until a truck can pick them up. Put 1872 miles on Hellfire and it ran like a top. What a great event. They limit the tour to 50 cars and it seems just right. I think we had 41 cars. It is a small enough group that we can stop and see some very cool shops and collections. Seeing a gazillion cams being made at Comp Cams, seeing 2 gazillion carbs being made at Holley, seeing George Poteet's farm with rows of cars. I could go on and on. Ed Capen was our fearless leader and he just flat out has things squared away. Wherever we go next year I am in.

sounds like a good ole time. less people and stops makes it nicer for sure.

I FINALLY got home --- so now will post some pics. To echo what Charlie said.... the tour was excellent - went without a single hitch - the planning and instructions that we got (in the form of a book) with addresses - routes - contact numbers etc. Very professional! I'll be on next years for sure.
Not in order ---- just random shots from places we visited. To me - this was the most impressive of them all - because of the HISTORY the owner has. These bricks and windows -- came from his Grandfathers business!! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8314.jpg On another wall he had the SIGN that was from his Grandfather on his other side (you know - like one is his fathers father and the other his Mothers father) COMP CAMS was an amazing shop tour!! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8339.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8342.jpg HOOTER GIRLS ATTACK!!! This was in Loveland Colorado show.... If you haven't been there -- the fairgrounds were stellar!! Perfect time of year -- and the cars overall were fantastic! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8279.jpg One of the stops was a private collection.... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8289.jpg Charlie and I had to walk out to Cadillac Ranch..... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8296.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8295.jpg Another private collection that was absolutely HUGE!! They served us a fantastic BBQ dinner on top of allowing us to visit! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8299.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8298.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8305.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8308.jpg Cruised some two lane blacktop! That was used for blowing the carbon out.... LOL http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8310.jpg The coolest wrecking yard -- everything sorted by make.... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8312.jpg |
George Poteets "farm".... He's a most gracious host!
http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8323.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8327.jpg Jesse Greening not only was on the tour with us --- he opened his shop for us and fed us lunch. The shop is HOSPITAL clean. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8344.jpg And of course -- you had to go to The National Corvette Museum when in Bowling Green!! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8364.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8361.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8362.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_8359.jpg |
