blasted, used 6 bags of media.

Didn't want to chance warping the quarters or roof by blasting, so I DA'd with 80 to bare metal, the E-Coat came off pretty easy.

Epoxied, mixed 4 quarts of DP74 (red oxide) with 1 quart of DP90 (black) to get the correct color. Why I don't know as it is not a resto. Anyway used 2-1/2 quarts.

Black Epoxy, DP90, shot black only on the frame rails and the rockers as its hard to paint up to the bedliner without seeing the undercoat in places. and I taped off where bolts go and wanted black there.

Bedliner, Used U-Pol Raptor 1 gallon kit. wished I had another 1/2 gallon, but it covered well, 2 coats overall and 3 in the rear wheel wells.

And last but not least been playing with the color match. I want to be as close to the original Lucerne blue as I can get. the left is Axaltas mix, the center is the original on my cowl side and the right is PPG.

This is gonna take some work.

Stan

More progress....

Body work has begun yuck I HATE sanding.

on a positive note I finally nailed down the color. OCD says has to be a great match to original, other side says LT4!!!! who cares.

Anyway after several rounds of what the books say and what the camera says, I bought some of the toners and tinted the PPG code #26 Lucerne Blue. I kept track of the amounts with my scale. My PPG store was able to take my formula and mix it. I did a spray out and I like it.

Here are a few pics... The one next to my cowl shows my mix compared to a small spot I left of the original paint.

The pics with the spoiler welting molded in color is from James (wizard61 on PY forum)

And now, back to sanding!!!!!

Very cool project! I had a 1977 Bandit TA when it was a couple years old. Brother had a Silver '78 and paint was shot before it was 3 yrs old. Got to really like those cars.

Lucy blue is a nice color choice
