To All:
I started watching NASCAR back in the late 60's and early 70's. To me at that time it was what is was suppose to be. Watch the race on Sunday, buy the car on Monday. AJ Foyt, Richard Petty, Buddy Baker, Bobby Allison they were great to watch and the cars were much more fun to watch. Everyone knew the teams were doing, "EVERYTHING" they could to win, but that was part of the fun of it. The fun of the Bootlegging mentality has been ruled out of the racing. Just too damn many rules. (Anal retentive Bastards) Dale driving outside the box brought the fun back into watching Nascar. Now that he is gone, it's just another 3 hour advertising campain. No surprises, no nothing. I remember one of the last races Dale drove, some guy pissed him off and on the slowdown lap he purposely nudged the back of his car sending him spinning into the infield. The crowd went wild, and it was just awesome to see a free spirit drive his ass off. Payback was a Bitch. It was great, unrehearsted, out-of-control, and an absolute blast to watch. He didn't take crap from anyone. It's time to start a new series with a lot less oversight. tyoneal |
Thanks to corporate America, that is why Nascar is the way is it today. Big business always has to step in and then it takes on serious changes and a lot of garbage.

Its hard for me to get pumped up, when the 70's cars were running way, way faster than the cars of today. Too many dumb ass restrictions.
Let people be creative, come up with better, faster, solutions. |

Amen to that. Dale at Bristol was the best. No matter where he started, he was coming to the front, and coming in a hurry. Get the hell out of the way or get knocked out of the way, he did not care which. Now in the present PC atmosphere of NASCAR, no one dares bump anymore. I used to go to the Daytona 500, now I go a week early and watch real racing at Volusia County Raceway, dirt track baby. |
The day that the manufactors pull their money out of NASCAR, will be the day of reconing. Then we will see how NASCAR survives. I bet the C.O.T will be gone and they will have to make the race cars look like street cars. Ford, Chevy and Dodge arent getting enough value from waht they are spending on NASCAR.
