Good one. That is a John Candy size fart pipe, for sure.

Scott, I just had a new exhaust made: 2.5" stainless with X-pipe and magnaflow mufflers, 3" tips.

The sound is very quiet at idle and you can converse with someone easily when driving. Then really wakes up at WOT and sounds agressive.

I have some Rhino Performer RPM mufflers straight thru packed I had on a Nova for about 20 mins one time quiet and then louder when WOT, but I don't think they make them any more,

Quiet and almost subdued at idle, but get your attention when you get on it. There is a Speed World Challenge C5 Corvette that races with our club, this exhaust system sounds a lot like it.

Jeff

Sorry I couldn't post it here because of invalid file type, but if you don't mind going here you can hear it. http://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23760

I don't remember where I read it, but I read something on a forum about a 1/4 wave tuned side branch resonator that will all but eliminate the resonance performance mufflers can generate. I think I saw this on a Mustang site, but I can't find it at the moment.

Anyway, you branch out on a "T" (90* to the pipe), using the same size pipe, capped on the end. You make this branch 1/2 the length of the tail pipe. It seams that the resonance we hear actually comes from the tail pipe, not the muffler. Accordning to the stuff I printed out, "As the acoustic wave from the sourse reaches the branch, the energy splits equally. The wave travelling down the side branch reflects off the closed end and is reflected back down toward the branch. When it arrives back at the branch it is excactly 180 degrees out of phase from the source wave because the branch has a length of 1/4.

This was all based on a Mustang tail pipe being about 5' long, 2000 RPM drone, V-8 pulses, etc.

Ah ha! Here is the forum link.

LOL... maybe run side pipes, then shoot them straight up like that? I could put an H pipe between them over the roof and have an external roll cage.

Per Blown353 above.

"Anything straight through and packed is the way to go IMO... they will have the least resonance, be quietest during light-load, and the best flow."

MODERN and pricey GLASSPACKS ta me!!

He, He!!
