vinny, breaking the car in right, kicked ass first time out, ran as fast or faster then kyle in the dse car, they were both in the 28-29 sec laps, vinny had more 28 sec laps. heres a pic, some killer video coming.

Yeah, Vin kicked ass. On his first ever auto-x run, he ran a 29 with anything under 30 seconds being fast for street tires. Then he continuously improved into the 28 second zone.
After all of the runs were complete, we let a few cars do some more laps for the cameras with each car doing a smoke show at the end of the run.

Vince@Meanstreets 09-15-2007 10:19 PM

way to go guys congradulations, great work Jake, great driving Vin. air ride +1

Jake you need to put up a guide on how to remove molten rubber from fresh paint.

ProdigyCustoms 09-16-2007 04:27 AM

Yes Vinnie did a great job. His first run scared me a bit because I just assumed he was over his head, bu by is second lap I was quickly seeing he can drive. Good show guys.

68protouring454 09-16-2007 07:57 PM

drag race action

vinny beat the crap out of it again, running 12 times down the 8th mile, running hot laps 3-4 at a time. ran as quick as 7.64 at 99 mph, feathering throttle most of the track, the car was spinning at trap when hitting 3rd gear.

Yeah, now all I gotta do is explain to the Stadium management why all those black marks are on the parking lot in the morning...:willy:
Vinnie's car is a killer car guys, first class all the way. One thing though, Jake did miss one thing when he was building it, he forgot to ween it from its need of GASOLINE!!!!! and forgot to tell Vinnie......

(sorry, I just had to bust Vinnies balls about running out of gas 10 minutes after he got here. )

lol, yeah it was a great time and a cultural experience that should be had by any pro touring enthusiast. air ride put on the nice bbq dinner and the cruise was, well WET!!!! great time thanks for putting it on bill

Bill Howell 09-16-2007 08:22 PM

Jake, I know Vinnie and you cruised the strip a good bit too each night. Obviously overheating was not an issue in sitting traffic. To me, that is as important as the ETs at the strip.

yeah the 650hp 496 does well, it runs 190-200 no matter if its 50 or 95, and goddamn does it sound good. the car is officially broken in i would say, now if i can keep vinny from hitting the rev limiter in my 7.3 turbo diesel on the way home, lol:thumbsup:

Bill Howell 09-16-2007 08:40 PM

I have heard both good and bad reports on the mufflers, but IMO it sounds great. Loud, but great. You all be careful on the way home.

vinz68 09-17-2007 02:36 PM

I want to give a BIG THANKS to Jakes rod shop,Twist Machine and Air Ride for building me such a bad ass car!

KILLER:woot:  :lateral:
it was fun watching vinny drive it like he stole it all weekend.
video tames his runs down, he was very aggressive.
man what a great car weekend, and I did not even have a car..

Garage Dog 65 09-18-2007 08:33 AM

Whole office was watching and cheering you on Vin !! What a BLAST man - you lucky dog.

Your car has WAY to much power for that track - kinda like threading a needle from 100 yards out with a rock. Had the course been a bit bigger where you could really use the car and the power it makes - and you'd have been smiling for weeks !

Thanks for the ride !

trapin 09-18-2007 09:03 AM

I had the honor of going for a blast in this thing after the autocross event. The car is an absolute animal and sounds killer with that exhaust. I know toning down exhaust is popular in some circles, but I like a nice loud hot rod. Jake did a great job stitching this one together. Fast as hell and handles like it's on rails. Anyone who doubts the ability of Air Ride Technologies needs to have their head examined. Vinny was right there with the top dogs on Saturday.

68protouring454 09-19-2007 02:57 PM

vinny

vinny beat his car so bad he needed a smoke.....

vinz68 10-06-2007 06:52 PM

Tomorrow I'm changing the shifter. Installing oil and tranny temp gauges. Give the car a once over, change the oil and i should be ready for XV Track day on Thursday. Can't wait.

awr68 10-06-2007 08:23 PM

Glad to see you use the car properly Vin!! I think I need a smoke now!!

vinz68 11-12-2007 01:36 PM

Did a high speed run yesterday. 165 mph @6000 rpm. What a rush!!!:wow:

68protouring454 11-12-2007 01:46 PM

cool, we need some video of that:thumbsup:

Strangler 11-13-2007 11:10 AM

The car is going back to Jake's Rod Shop this week. He's installing a cage, vintage air, and a mini tub. Should I have the rear narrowed or just more back spacing? Just want to see what some of you guys think.....

Narrow the rear, more lip or deeper dish on the wheels = :hail:

ProdigyCustoms 11-19-2007 05:10 PM

Narrow and add the width to the outer rim shell.

Vince@Meanstreets 11-19-2007 05:16 PM

+++1 agree  345's will look bad under that car!

awr68 11-19-2007 06:20 PM

I agree more rubber would look great and a deeper dish looks best IMHO, but a 345 is not going to fit your car unless Jake has gottin rid of the fender lip already. A 335 is a pretty tight fit on a 67-68 camaro, you really need the extra .75" the 69 fender well has. Also, if you have a 245 on the front you have to be concerned with going too wide from a handeling standpoint...go too wide on the rear and the car will push! And I know you like to hit the tracks!!
