 Actually I thin the RS is done with the chassis other than the motor mounts. I just don't have any pictures of it yet. But yes progress is slow:D

Maybe he got those big ones that are designed for trucks for the front?

Matt

Rick D 07-14-2012 05:36 AM

Rob how come no 6 piston?? Even Dave has 6 pistons now

torino420 07-14-2012 05:55 AM

Christmas in July, always love new parts. Looking good Rob, look forward to more progress updates.

Glad you like the concept. If it was good enough for Richard Petty at Riverside it should be good enough for me at RTTC

Thanks the new Wilwoods are a work of art JMO.

It's always like Christmas :D as it seems like I'm always buying parts. Unfortunately Santa hasn't been forking out the cash.:(

Wayne. Sorry I missed you at C&C today hope I hope it was a good showing.

Matt

I can't hope to compete with the brake bling Dave scored a deal on. I'll just have to settle for this small stuff:lol:

So you're calling my Torino a truck? OK As RS and Summers & Sons showed trucks are really fast:unibrow:

Silly rabbit these are for the rears.:D I had a rear set up for a non floater and Mike at Wilwood was a huge help in working to get Speedway the right parts to use my stuff on the new floater. The new calipers are pretty cool with an internal crossover passage that eliminates the exterior stainless tubing.

The front will get matching 6 piston calipers with 14" rotors all the way around (yes 14 is overkill and yes in addition to my 19 or 20" rear wheels I know I'm adding unneeded unsprung weight)

So after seeing your car (pile of parts) :wow: I already have a parts inferiority complex and now you point I only have a 14 page build thread? That hurts:lol:

I'm gonna bet I have a running car before I hit 100 posts:P

No problem Bryan. There were quite a few exotics to see.

Wayne, I'm not sure if you tried to call or not, but also sorry I missed you there yesterday. I got there early and took off early to head back south to stop by HRE. Hopefully we have time to meet up another time,

Matt

p.s. Rob, sorry for hijacking your thread.

No worries I'm gonna owe you big time when you hook me up with those GT seats.

FETorino 07-16-2012 08:23 PM

Phil and Chris sent me some progress pics.

This is my dirty old 390 sitting in the chassis but dimensionally it's identical to my AL Pond side oiler. It's sitting nice and low and back thanks to that shiney low profile Dailey dry sump.
The Wilwood 4 piston calipers and 14" rotors will look better when they are bolted to that Speedway mod-lite floater.
It's getting closer.

The frame rails do extend all the way out to both port and starboard rocker panels. :unibrow:

The design of the floor allowed us to give the car/boat a wide platform with out a lot of modification to the original floor. We are going to be making mounts to tie in a roll cage to the frame rails as well which will give it much more strength than just going to the floor.

GrabberGT 07-17-2012 08:57 AM

I know its pretty simple, but there's just something about that rear sway bar that I really like. What can I say... I'm easy.

I live on the coast for a reason. A boat make sense for a waterbound creature such as myself. My gills would dry out if I was inland like you guys:rofl:

You should powder coat it black. Painting the frame just isn't befitting of a car that could potentially have seats from a Ford GT.

I like the durability of powder coating, and having it done in black means it is easy to touch up with black paint without noticing very much. You know, for when you decide to weld some little bracket on at the last minute.

Really? You see something that hot and just don't want to ride it like a bucking bronco:_paranoid

FETorino 07-23-2012 08:00 PM

Somebody is working on my car. Phil shot me some pics today. They are making some custom new torque boxes to mount the body to the frame. Of course they found some rust in a floorpan so I need to have some additional metal work done.

Looking good. Very jealous of that frame. I was checking a couple out at Goolsby Customs a couple weeks back. Man they are super nice chassis.

Looking good Rob! Some Intros on that bad boy and you got yourself a real nice ride!

Hi Phil! Thanks for taking my call the other day....

I went with a Chevy bolt pattern hopping you'd donate yours from the bubbletop. Hence the branding on the chassis.:_paranoid

Yea after seeing one in person it wasn't a hard decision to have them build one. You couldn't go wrong with an RS chassis and Goolsby do the car for you.

That's the breaks, I guess INTROS on my ride just weren't meant to be. I'll have to settle for Forgelines:rofl:

INTMD8 07-25-2012 03:30 PM

Ok, can someone give me the back story on all the Intro comments? Did they make Greg a set of 24" Hello Kitty wheels or something? :unibrow:

The '62 Bubbletop build at Ironworks has a "roller" set of Intros on it - that Rodger (Ironworks) and Kenny Davis have been going on about for a couple years -- then when Torino saw them - he started busting my azz about 'em - and it's just been going back and forth. Every time he says something about them it makes me laugh - and I'm sure - vice versa...

FETorino 07-25-2012 08:27 PM

Its not as fun when you explain it that way DB Cooper:D To get back on track I'd like to Intro the latest pics from RS
