Front cradle, engine and control arms laid in place on the chassis table:

Rear bracing to keep the shell from flexing. Rear transaxle in place and suspension tacked up:

Drivers side door- looking in where the dash once lived. You can see the boxed in rocker panels, and tube frame merging toward the front.

Looks great Tyler, keep the pics coming,

XcYZ 12-04-2008 01:43 PM

Nice, I can't wait to see what Rodger does with frame.

tones2SS 12-04-2008 02:17 PM

Man, this car is gonna be rigid.
Should be great for traction.

MtotheIKEo 12-04-2008 03:17 PM

Just caught up. Im amazed at what people will release to customers when building a cage. Ignoring the safety factor and even the fact that you cant see it, I would be too embarrassed with the finished product to let it go out. Looks like you are in good hands now.

Question about the rear frame. Are the front upper control arm mounts going to stay single shear?

Nope. They will be double shear every where. They didn't put the plate in there yet.

Seems like I remember on another build they did there was this neat little eccentric type thingy for suspension adjustments. Definately double shear. Wait till you see it, so cool!

Thanks for the comparison photos, placed one after another.

The comparison makes a statement. What a difference.

still can't figure out a good name for my project, but chopping up a muscle car makes some people cringe and some people...

Rodger makes some NICE frames, and it is great to see this back on track!!!

Does anyone here happen to know what the width is of the factory C6 transaxle? From Hub face to Hub face? I am considering trying to use a transaxle on my 69 and want to know how much I would have to narrow it to fit the wheels I already have.

John

rich-allen 12-23-2008 09:19 AM

They went to the drag races and the Ultimate Fighter for the honeymoon :hail:

ironworks 12-23-2008 09:22 AM

Not yet, we are trying to get sometickets, but there are no drag races this weekend so I guess we will have to find something else to do in Vegas. UUUMMMM. I'm not sure I have ever gone to Vegas to not do anything with cars.

Rodger

98ssnova 12-23-2008 10:25 PM

cheapta 12-26-2008 04:24 PM

So-let me get this straight-did Wayne Due's shop build the cage as well as the chassis? I had hoped to get one of his C4 front clips for my 1st-gen Nova but then he closed up his shop.

Thomo5150 10-17-2009 02:25 AM

Is this camaro still being built????

Yes....but I think Tyler has a few other things on his plate at the moment. Last I heard (saw in pics) it's still at Ironworks though!

ironworks 10-17-2009 02:15 PM

Still is.

Thomo5150 10-17-2009 02:21 PM

Hi Rodger, any updates or is the project on hold, very interested in this project.

Cheers Tim

ironworks 10-17-2009 02:28 PM

We have gotten a few things done to try and get it off the chassis jig and made to roll. It is really close for that, but no where near done.
It would be great to free up some shop space.

Rodger

Teetoe_Jones 05-27-2010 07:59 PM

The black daily driven 68 (aka Chicane-LM) has been sold. 50/50 will once again move forward at Ironworks. I can't stress enough how important it is to work with the right shop. Rodger was beyond understanding, professional, and accommodating while I figured out what to do with a stalled out project. I hear all the time people saying how they can't afford high end shops like Ironworks; I'll tell you first hand you can't afford NOT to go to a shop of this caliber. How many re-do's have I had to do between the chassis shop and body kit? Two and three respectively, and after being burned over and over on this obsession I learned what makes a good shop.

Tune in as we crack open the vault that stores the 5-time-world-champion-of-stalled-projects, eleven-years-and-counting-in-the-making, lighter-weight-than-ever-before, 1968 Camaro known as 50/50.

x2. Glad to hear it's moving along again.

96z28ss 05-27-2010 08:30 PM

So the project is moving forward again, Congrats!!

Hopefully you sold the other car for a 6 figure sum so you can finish 50/50.
$40k gets swallowed up fast with these types of projects.

ironworks 05-27-2010 08:36 PM

Well it is not in motion yet... it is still locked in it's lovely desert condo of steel. But we have to finish something to get another project inside. I have more employees then ever and we have a bunch of projects going on. Along with all the current work, it seems all the stall projects are all wanting to start up again......

I guess my problems could be worse......

awr68 05-27-2010 10:42 PM

Great news Tyler! And yes Rodger...it could be worse!! ;)
