I have a dilemma of what to do with the original front fenders. They need repairs and patchwork to the lowers and are going to need a bunch of time to do. One needs a new inner brace to be re-worked. The other has a patch on the inside and outside sandwiching the original metal. Looking at an extra $500 per side in labour to remove, re-work, cut and re-weld. I have a feeling though, that number will increase to around $800 per side. I can get new AMD fenders for $450/side. Dilemma is to go aftermarket or save the originals. What to do????

Looks like they are doing a great job! As far as the front fenders go...sometimes they are not worth fixing. Have you looked around to see if there are any in better condition for sale? There's nothing like OE metal but you have to decide if it's worth the cash to patch them up. Mine were too shot to fix so I bought some repops...took three sets to get a couple we could work with and they needed quite a bit of work to 'fit'! They are Goodmark but I am told the 69's fit way better than my 68's did. After going through that with my car...I would try very hard to get some OE metal.

Issues today with unequal length rocker panels. This is the factory original installation. Looks like we are going to have to section a piece out...about 1/4" long.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...01021-1320.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...01021-1322.jpg I also picked up a couple C4 Corvette spare tires for the front to clear my 6 Piston Wilwood's and get the Fikse's out of the shop before they get beat up. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...01021-1334.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...01021-1335.jpg |

Very nice. Making some great progress on that bad boy.

Very cool! They are making great time on it....looks like you hired a good shop!
It also appears that the car didn't need too much filler and the shop is using it correctly! You now have a very solid car that is being done correctly! :woot: I forget, what color is it going? And what's the ETA on color? |

Car will be going back to Garnet Red. We are going to do some color samoles and see about using hat color as a base and bringing it up a little to a more modern color that is not soo flat. Looking at color in about 2 weeks. |
Ready to be boarded out. 2 more days of dry time and good to go!!

Awesome job! Can't wait to see this bad boy in color!

Thanks guys. I am still not sure what I am going to do with the color. The original Garnet Red is kind of a flat color.....like the orange I used to have. Any ideas on how to spice up the paint a little?? Here it is in stock form.

My vote for the Garnet red. If your thinking about going a little brighter, take a look at Scotts (XcYZ) camaro. Its the best red Ive seen personally on a 69.
BTW- That garnet red camaro is killer, buddies? |
I like the Garnet red also. Of all the red camaros out there, the Garnet red is the least seen. With todays base/clear coat, it will shine.....dont worry.
I say go for it! Its got me wanting to paint mine the same color :D |
Wneh I was a a kid my 69 Z28 was garnet red I loved it.
