Looks good Mark. Those wheels are awesome. Can't wait to see it after it gets painted.

MarkM66 10-13-2009 04:14 AM

Where does it actually get painted? Is there a booth nearby?

NovaBlue71 10-13-2009 04:35 AM

We are awaiting a few things to get into our shop. should be a couple weeks yet. for now we have already started Marks car in our shop at home. We'll be sure to post pictures along the way and when its in the booth for paint.:)

Paul made those stands in a couple hours, Went to Home Depot and got the wood and a box of screws.

It is going to be red. Debating between a couple shades. I always liked the color we put on the Thrasher.

It will look great in any color, and as a suggestion for the next car #13 (there will be more wont there?) may I suggest Fathom Green? :unibrow: I used to have a Fathom Green R/S Z and have always liked it - it even looks black at night. Thanks Mark you keep alot of us drooling

Excellent choice Mark! Thrasher was the main car you built that inspired my build. Plus they don't call it re-sale red for no reason

Serpa69 10-13-2009 11:13 AM

I always liked the BBS RK wheels that were on that car. And the red paint. What year was the thrasher finished?

Vegas69 10-13-2009 11:20 AM

Not trying to me a smart alec....but it's named the "Blue" bomber. :D

Rybar 10-13-2009 11:36 AM

I think he actually called the car APEX, notice the thread starter was not Mark.

Not many people are a fan of Deep Fathom Green, they'll tell you its the wrong color to put on a car, but too bad, my car is DFG,

I agree with not mayn people being fans of that color, but done correctly, it'll look killer!!
Look at the car of the month for October, Paul Dykes car. Killer car and killer color. Not sure if it is DFG or not. Looks good for a green car though.

Mesmerized by shiny objects

I took all my old rusty bolts and had them acid stripped and zinc plated. I took bolts from all my old Camaros and other bolts. It is cool to have the original bolts clean and ready to install.

I took about 30 lbs of bolts to Mid-State Plating in scenic Flint, MI. Mid-State charged me $100 for the box. The bolts can't have paint on them but a little light rust and grim is OK. Most of my bolts look like brand new. I have done the repo bolt deal and they are not the same as the take out fasteners. I have also done Totally Stainless Bolts and they are great and well labeled by area of the car.

Fuel tank vent

Mark, what do you usually do about venting the fuel tanks on the cars that you build? I have read allot of info about venting on here, but it doesn't seem that allot of people are 100% happy with their vent system?
Thanks, Tony

Rick there is a place in Garland called Sentinel Plating that I took all my hardware and all my aftermarket parts that were gold zinc and had them clear cad just like that picture. Very reasonable.

GregWeld 10-16-2009 08:36 PM

You know what I found out (a buddy showed me) about Cad plating?? It buffs up just like chrome!!

Of course - Mark likes his stuff "stock" looking... but just thought I'd toss that in there in case anyone cared.

Yes we did, its the same car and I changed the interior up, I have a few pictures I need to load up on my laptop and ill post them up, I was really hoping to have it a Chicago Good-guys. but I had a really bad miss. and ended up being a bad MSD Pro-Billet Distributor. but it ended up working out because I have a couple things I want to sort out over the Winter like shocks and springs, rear gear change etc...

Paul

awr68 10-17-2009 05:03 PM

Paul it looks good...what color blue is it? Looks like LeMans?

Thanks, Tony

The last Rick's tank I got for Charley's JA vent worked with no proplems. We just hooked up a 3/8 line to the vent on the tank and ran it to the back of the car.

Earlier tanks I had to move the vent to the filler neack of the tank to get it to the highest point in the tank.

Mark

JohnC 10-21-2009 07:22 PM

Are you using a 4-point cage?

Is it going to have a backseat?

What will the uses of this car be?

Thanks

waynieZ 10-21-2009 10:35 PM

Mark I'm useing a stock tank with this Aeromotive sump http://www.jegs.com/i/Aeromotive/027...ductId=1137105 Could I put the vent in the fuel fill tube with a check valve ?

JohnC 10-22-2009 10:59 AM

Thanks for the PM. Any other cars that you have done have 4-points??
