In a month or so we might see a certain Nova vert on those same stands.

HHHMMMMM

70rs 08-12-2009 08:56 AM

The Camaro is coming along nice Rodger. You guys are hauling a** there.

Maybe I missed it somwhere, but what is the purpose of the block off plate where the drivers side headlight should be?

ironworks 08-12-2009 09:01 AM

No purpose just did not install that section of the grille. We plan to run both headlights.

Thanks we have been only working 1 guy at a time on this project, We typically work 50 hour work weeks. We get alot of work done for a small 5 man shop. You can ask any customer we get the work done, there is always something to see.

tones2SS 08-12-2009 11:38 AM

WOW!!
Great progress and she's looking good. Good turn around for a 5 man shop. By the way, digging the car stands as well!!

Well we got the Engine and power steering coolers landed and are working on the engine plumbing.

http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ust2009130.jpg

Can you guess what goes here?

http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ust2009132.jpg

And the start of the Rollcage, man these ready made kits are sure easy. We are going to have to do something to clean dress things up Ironworks style.

http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ust2009127.jpg

War 08-17-2009 06:12 PM

Ahh, I know what that is. Maybe you can make 2 while your at it.

ironworks 08-18-2009 02:02 PM

The load of K&N air filters showed up yesterday and so did the Kirkey seats. We went with the Intermediate Seats with the Deluxe seat cover which will be here later this week.

http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ust2009146.jpg

The Intake filter is 12" long has a 3.5" opening and has a stud on the nd to help support the end of the filter, when we install it in front of the core support.

http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ust2009143.jpg

Enjoy

Vegas69 08-18-2009 02:07 PM

Killer job on the coolers.

I'm pretty excited about the One Lap Event, James told me they are supposed to run Watkins Glen and I love that track. I have been practicing all the East coast Tracks on I racing.

QUOTE]

Don't forget to hit up VIR on IRacing! Having actually run the track, IRacing is incredably accurate!

Nice Build going! 67's don't get the respect they deserve!

ironworks 08-19-2009 08:25 AM

Oh Don't Worry I run VIR quite often. That last turn before the front stretch is sneeky, it will bit you. back strech up the hill from turn one to the tree is my favorite stretch of all the tracks, except the uphill chicane at Watkins Glen. You race on iracing regularly?

Thanks for the kind words, We have really put the effort in this week to get the car to Pleasanton this weekend to display it in the Chassisworks booth.

Rodger

Serpa69 08-19-2009 10:13 AM

There is a track day where you can actually run at VIR on Sep 7,8 I will be there. That track is better in person.

I hope someone doesnt think that is where you fill the car up with gas. That would suck

ironworks 08-19-2009 10:29 AM

That is what the locking cap is for.

J2SpeedandCustom 08-19-2009 12:07 PM

Rodger is that cage going to be available from CA? Looks like the fit is pretty decent.

ironworks 08-19-2009 12:19 PM

It already is. We had to notch eveything to fit, which a majority of the work. But for a prebent Rollcage it fits pretty good. We have added a few bars here and there, but it sure make things easier. For garage guy this cage would go in nicely with a quality notcher.

Teetoe_Jones 08-19-2009 03:04 PM

Cool idea on the dry sump tank filler. Junk.

Tyler

Payton King 08-20-2009 05:46 AM

Nice build, fun to watch.

really like the oil filler.

Pettigrew put a cup motor in Jimmy Johnson's 67 and built a custom tank where you put yours. I think that is a good location

ironworks 08-20-2009 06:42 AM

Thanks Guys, I liked the oil filler idea but was not sure how it would be recieved. Well we got it togther with the cage tacked in place and most of the sheetmetal fit and hung. This car is coming along well for what I believe is 18 days of work or so. At least that is what the time journals said late last night when I did payroll.

The Marquez taillights and Ricks fuel tank showed up yesterday. The Taillights really make the back of the car. The Ricks fuel tank with new internal BOSCH fuel pump slipped right in. These bolt togther cars are pretty easy.........:D

We are leaving for Pleasanton and will be displaying the car in the Chassisworks booth all weekend. Stop by and check it out. I will have Musclecar Power Magazines to giveaway. John and Eric should be around for autographs on Saturday and Sunday......:D

Garage Dog 65 08-20-2009 07:54 AM

Wow, great progress on the bolt together !

Have you thought about recessing the oil filler cap into the fender to match the gas filler design on the tail panel ? Just some more metal work for the team ....

Enjoy the "rest time" at the show you workaholics !

Jim

tones2SS 08-20-2009 09:56 AM

My friend Jason runs it all the time on IRacing, I've used his setup. I don't have it personally, On my Christmas list though! I've been on the track in my ESP WS6 several times, You're right about the section with the S turns heading up to the Oak tree turn, my favorite part too.

What are you driving?

markd 08-20-2009 11:18 AM

Rodger,

Do you have clearance issues with the 295 / 35 front tires?

I also have a Chassisworks sub-frame and I am having clearance issues. I have 9” x 18” wheels and 245 / 40 tires. The tires are rubbing the frame, fenders and inner fenders when you turn the wheels.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mark

BeCool68 08-20-2009 02:45 PM

very nice!

ironworks 08-25-2009 02:26 PM

We built and installed the Air Intake plumbing this morning with 3 90 degree 3.5" bends. The Air filter from K&N fit like a glove.

1969x11 08-25-2009 04:34 PM

Where did you order the bends from? SPD? I really need to do this to my car, I have a rubber 90 then MAF with a K&N stuck on the end. Just pull that one off and send it to your old Alabama pal !!!!

Talk to ya soon

Well our Speedtech switch panel finally cleared customs and arrived this morning. From my Days of Drag racing I remembered a company from Canada that made a really nice switch panel, that was set up with some self diagnosis features that could come in handy on the side of the road or the track. The switch panel connects through a Axial cable like your computer uses. All you do is hook up the power source to the relay panel and route your power wires to the components your running.

ironworks 08-27-2009 04:35 PM

Probably just the rollcage halo.
