I got the area around the car cleaned out yesterday. Now I need to organize the remaining stuff in the storage unit so I can actually get working space without destroying my furniture in there too. (i know, red neck mechanics at its finest here) but I am stuck for space and want to get this off the "back burner". I have been lining up some parts to get next week that should jump start the project pretty well. |
I think someone close to you knows a thing or two about 6.0L iron motors...
Glad to hear you're going again. Must have had a bit of mine rub off on you when you picked up your engine stand! |

How are you recovering? Everything going smoothly I hope. |
Little update here.
Today I picked up a 383 stroker, a t56 tranny and had a good time visiting with Greg Weld. I also got a chance to see Gregs 32 for the first time in person. Beautiful car to say the least. And it sounds just as good as it looks. I also had a chance to check out the 69 he is working on, Greg really does know how to use his tool collection. NICE WORK! In fact, the engine and tranny that used to live in the 32 will now reside under the hood of my Camaro. This started by me posting a question about factory hydraulic clutch parts. Greg said he had a master cyl for me so I got in touch and asked if he had one for sale. He said no, that I could just have it. One thing led to another and today Greg and his brother in law Rudy loaded the back of my truck with all of the parts for the engine and trans. And I have to say there are some REALLY nice parts in there! As in a forged steel crank, roller lifters, roller rockers, RHS iron heads, 2.02 stainless valves, guideplates, ARP hardware for the whole engine, a Edelbrock RPM air gap polished intake, a very nice 4 bolt 350 block that still has the crosshatch from when it was built.....Plus a complete T56 tranny with shifter, slave cyl and bellhousing. This is not a bunch of worn out stuff. It is all in nearly new unused condition. With a set of rings, a cam and a gasket set I am in business. Oh, and it is all a cool shade of red....:D Greg pretty much just gave me all of it. :wow: This is a HUGE deal to me. It will kick start the build in a great way and in the long run saves me thousands of dollars. It means my car is on the road just that much quicker. It means I don't have to worry about a drivetrain anymore now. I know I said I was going the LSx route. But how can I turn this opportunity away? I can't. And I would be a fool to. Now I have the makings of a serious little motor to use and can put my focus on other areas of the car build. The budget on this is SUPER tight. But it will get done. Things like this are a real blessing. I wanedt to say openly here what I already said to Greg about a hundred times already, THANKS BUDDY!!!! I really can not express what this means to me.  It is all in my garage tonight and I will be taking it over to where the car is tomorrow. I will get some decent pics of it all then. |
:hail: Greg Weld. Awesome stuff Eric, hope this gets your project moving for you.
|
Greg,  I hope sometime I get a chance to by you a Steak & a Cold Bud. Scott M.

Nice moves Greg! Congrats on the score Eric..

Just sharing the love guys..... Not to down play the parts at all - but these are parts I won't use. I have spare sets of aluminum heads - and I have an LS6 on a rolling stand I haven't used in 6+ years... so I'd use that motor "first".
Eric is one of the good guys... and I've seen his posts volunteering to help others on here frequently. I never sell parts... I just can't be bothered... but I keep them around until I find someone I WANT to give them to... that deserves them. :lateral:  Eric --- It must have been very dark in the shed... and you never saw me with a tool in my hand! :D |
What? Dark shed...Greg had his tool in his hand...??? HA! J/K.
Great move Greg  |

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Making me all warm and fuzzy. |
Congrats Eric. We all want to see you get this car on the road.
And Mr Weld... well done sir... well done. |

Everyone has been very supportive and it makes a difference. Several months ago I thought I was going to have to sell the car. But things have changed for the better and now I finally get to build it. I am pretty excited about it. And Greg doing what he did with the motor & tranny gives the whole thing a real shot in the arm so to speak. I still have a bunch of things to get like sheet metal, plumbing, brake system, fuel system, interior...but a lot of the "big ticket" items are dealt with at this point. |

Thanks guys!
I just dropped the block, crank & heads at the machine shop. They are going to hone the cylinders for moly ring, install cam bearings & freeze plugs and give everything the once over to check tolerances. |
Very awesome Eric. Great to hear. Can't wait to see the pics.
Kudos to Greg for being a great guy and being so generous. |

As promised here are some pictures. Fair warning, not too much to see except potential. sweet, pictures are too large. How the hell do I re size them?? Ok I figured out the resize deal, now it says file to large??? WTF! I HATE computers! New pics with the old digital camrea soon and not the "Smart" phone....yeah right..smart! Ok, compressed now too. Hope it works. The last shot is a crunched mopar near my storage unit waiting for some attention. Too bad, just rotting there. |

I forgot to ad one of the car itself. DUH!!
The shot on the trailer is from March when I had to put it in storage. The other is as it sits today. |
Eric,it's great to see you moving forward. One day at a time and you will be there before you know it.
|
Okay -- enough about "me" -- I did what any of you would do... helped out a buddy with some spares. Not that big of a deal. :D
He was eyeballing the LS6 though.... The shed is full of 'crap' after doing this stuff for 4 DECADES.... Man time flies when you're having fun! Eric ---- I had a M/C and slave for that tranny etc -- and I'm certain I have the flywheel here (got a couple under the stairs)... but I can't remember if I gave the M/C/slave away or put it somewhere... The A.D.D. kicks in (yes I really am but I don't take the meds unless I have a biz meeting) and I forget about details like that. :willy: |
Nice to hear things are moving forward for both you and the car!! Life as we know can throw us curveballs and seriously have to prioritize things. I'm coming close to being one of "Decade Projects" with you and Tony... Glad you were able to keep it and continue this journey. You are obviously surrounded by good people locally as well as this community to help you push forward and get it done!
Keep us posted! |

I'm trying to get a pair of OE fenders and tail panel. And maybe a core support. I am looking forward to seeing your car come back soon. I wish mine was that far along. The quality on yours is just amazing. It should outlast all of us! |
