Finally recovered from the show. For any of you that have not attended the show, it is truly a “life” event. I had high hopes and this experience surpassed them all. The show was packed and the energy was amazing. The quality of the builds and attention to detail was amazing. The bird got a ton of exposure and countless compliments. It is headed back to Michigan for a couple of weeks to finalize the last few things and get it fired and tuned. We will then ship back to Orange County, CA where it will spend the winter. Several publications expressed interest in featuring the car once it is back in Cali for some good pictures. Here’s a few more shots of the beast at the show and being loaded on the truck for the trek back.

Okay the car looks great.

However really you have got to buy a new camera the pictures don't do this car justice and if you goal is to get people to look at your cars and be excited. That is what good pictures do.

ps even a cheap Camera is better the cell phone pics. Heck the kids on the s10 boards can even afford to buy a $150.00 camera

tones2SS 11-09-2010 08:06 AM

Awesome looking car.

tcronkright 12-01-2010 01:39 PM

Here's some recent pics of the car. We fired the engine and it is nasty! We will be finalizing the tuning and putting on the chassis dyno next week. We will be sure to video and upload. Then its off to S.Cal for the winter.

Thanks for all the comments. For all of you in S.Cal, you should start to see this around later this month.

Car looks great! Hats off to everyone involved, and done in less than a year!

What part of So Cal will you be staying? If you are around the Irvine area, you should stop by cars and coffee Saturday morning. If you do decide to go to the car show, please let us So Cal peeps know when it will be at the show.

tcronkright 12-25-2010 04:53 PM

It’s been a long journey and the car finally made it home three nights ago. Despite Brian’s pleading that I not take it out because it has not been road tuned (that will happen in 2 weeks in California), I could not resist. Here are a few videos of my first time behind the wheel. If you don’t have good speakers on your computer, grab a pair of headphones – you’ll be glad you did.

Rarely am I at a loss for words, but this one has me stumped. Driving this machine can only be described as a mixture of muscle car utopia, raw adrenaline and fear. As a result, I am going to refer to this beast as the “Stallion” – wild, powerful, untamable and something that must be revered.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback this year. We will be busy on the autocross/events circuit next year. I will be at the Cars & Coffee in Irvine, CA on Jan. 22 and will be participating in the Run to the Coast at the end of February. I hope to meet some of you in person at these events.

Merry Christmas and enjoy!

Very cool...

I like the turbo whistle in the first and third videos. Can't wait to see more when you get it out to Cali.

Merry Christmas.

Wow.. sounds great!
I should have my car by the time your going to Cars and Coffee. I'll meet you there. Sounds fun.
I was in the shop the other day... your car looked awesome with all the little things finished and buttoned up. The trunk came out killer. Fits real nice. I also really like the mesh you used in the grill and hood intakes.

nice job. I also love seeing you driving it on freezing cold streets with snow all over the place.

Vegas69 01-27-2011 12:09 PM

It was mentioned that someone was racing it at El Toro next month?

tcronkright 02-02-2011 11:37 AM

The car is scheduled to hit Anaheim, CA today in advance of the RTTC event. We will be attending the cruise and dinner on Friday evening and racing on Sunday – can’t wait. If any of you are in the area, stop by J-Star Motors at 8200 East Crystal Drive, Anaheim, CA 92807 and check it out.

Also just registered for the RTMC in May – hope to meet more of you this spring/summer.

We recently put the engine on a resistance dyno to completely dial it in. It produced 1012 hp and 950 lbs/tq at 5600 rpm and 12.72 lbs boost and pump gas. I think we’ll keep it there for now as I learn how to drive this beast. Here’s a link to that dyno pull:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsNyy...&feature=email

Here’s also a tour of the finished product:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f93GC...eature=related

Question – This will be the first year that I participate in autocross, any suggestions on a good helmet and anything else I will need?

Thanks!

Do you know anybody experienced?? Jerrod, the owner of J-Star Motors in Anaheim is scheduled to drive it. At this point it is purely for fun, she is grossly overweight and obviously overpowered. Should be a fun ride! We want to get our feet wet on the track and hopefully build a car specifically for these events in the future.

What, that's like having your best man spend the night with your bride. :unibrow:

What about Optima? Oh that's right, I forgot, that was Iceman.

Matt

Vegas69 02-06-2011 12:39 PM

I enjoyed it a lot more than Optima. Way more seat time(Friday Practice) and the real core guys of both sites. Don't get me wrong, the Optima Challenge was a blast and I hope to run again.

phillym5 02-24-2011 06:29 PM

So myself, Pro skater Nick Dompierre, and Dick from Best of Show went and scooped up the Firebird from Anaheim the other day. She had a small issue.. and needed some TLC.

The guys at Best of Show threw her on the rack... and Dick worked his magic. In no time... keys were thrown to Nick (runs a low 8 sec camaro on a regularly
basis..) and put some shake down miles on her today.

She is ridiculously ridiculous. lol... I really don't think the Perrelli P Zero's are the right tire for this car!! haha.

Here are a couple little vids of her. As you can see in the first... she like to spin the tires. :unibrow:

That's why I live in Michigan - so that I can watch other people drive my car in the winter.

Looks and sounds awesome.

Have fun and send more footage!

tcronkright 03-19-2011 06:18 AM

It’s been a while since the last post but we’ve had a ton of fun the last couple of months. The car has been in S. Cal since the beginning of the year where Dick from Best of Show and car guys (and pro skaters) Josh Kalis and Nick Dompierre helped with the initial break in. They also ran it at RTTC2 and had a great time. Due to having the completely wrong tires it will not connect in 1st or 2nd. I’ve attached a few videos where you can see Nick pushing the first two gears hard but it finally connected in 3rd. Solution – a pair of Nitto’s widest NT05’s get mounted on Monday and we are going to set up the front suspension a bit more aggressive for additional autocross events this summer. We are also adding a DSE sway bar to the quadralink in the rear. The car is heavy but with these tweaks and some more time behind the wheel we should be competitive. I live 10 miles from Grattan Raceway and will be spending some time out there getting to know the car. Other than a few minutes in Dec., I haven’t driven it yet and cannot wait. It ships back to MI next week!

So far we will be running at Run to Music City (Nashville) in May, Motor State Challenge (Michigan) in June, Goodguys Nationals (Columbus) in July and the Performance Car Challenge (Joliet) in July. Hope to see some of you there!

Here are some pics of Kalis’ Camaro that was featured in this month’s Camaro Performers and the Firebird. Kalis and Dompierre been having fun doing the local S. Cal events. I’ve also included a few clips of the RTTC2 event.
