This settles it...I'm putting cup holders EVERYWHERE!

johnnymac46 09-09-2012 10:18 AM

Its about time to go home now, I just placed a fairly larger order of sheet metal from Belair Bobs. Now I just have to try to beat it home so I can inspect it when it gets dropped off. That should keep me busy for a while.

Hopefully my Camaro is still in the garage when I get home!

Updates coming soon!

Spiffav8 09-09-2012 01:40 PM

About time you got back to working on that sucker!

I'm definitely looking to upgrade my living situation when I get home. A detached garage is what I would like to find.

I will let you know once I get settled in and adjusted to acting normal again. If you are still interested in the old fenders theyll be up for grabs.

Beach Cruiser 09-10-2012 06:56 AM

You know what they say about one man's junk is another man's treasure! I bet half my car is built off of hand me downs from other peoples projects! If you're moving, make sure you find a place with a garage big enough for two Camaros! I may be looking for a new place to live this fall! When are you going to be back?

I am looking for a garage big enough for my Camaro, Silverado, and 70 K5 blazer which I want to bring down from Minnesota. Might have to move out to the boons for that. IF everything goes as planned I should be sitting at the bar at Watermans this time next week. I think that is walking distance from your house if I remember right.

Beach Cruiser 09-10-2012 08:21 AM

Yes it is, was there yesterday. Hit me up and I'll meet you and re introduce you to civilian life at the beach!

johnnymac46 09-10-2012 08:21 AM

Mills,

do you still have the jig for the front sub you built? As much as I want to buy the AME, I could fast forward my build if I made one.

Beach Cruiser 09-10-2012 08:26 AM

yes, and all the cad drawings for the brackets I made. Just have a shop waterjet them out for you and your in business.

johnnymac46 09-10-2012 09:22 AM

I may have to swing by and check out your sub again when I get home. How wide were you able to go up front? 305?

As for Watermans I fully intend to live there, and Chix when I get home. So I will probably run into you.

Beach Cruiser 09-10-2012 09:25 AM

Yep, Chix is my home away from home! There is a new bar up the beach a couple of blocks called Caylpso that has become very popular as well.

I can get 315's on the front with ease. I have them mounted on Z06 rear wheels and they fit perfect, and the LS1 fits inside the frame like it was meant to be there.

allow me to rephrase, acting socially acceptable.

johnnymac46 09-26-2012 05:53 PM

A lot has been going on around here:

1st being home is a huge culture shock and takes a bit of getting used to.

2nd I got a giant pallet of sheet metal last week. Everything except the roof and hood came (already did the floors, firewall before deployment).

3rd I have the new doors, fenders, inners, and core support mounted (Very Roughly).

Today my Speedtech AFX Tall spindles and Chicane kit came in.

Project for the next two weeks wil be to remove and hang the new Quarters, and get the rearend back together. After that I'm hoping by the first of the first week of October I can get my engine and tranny ordered, and while I await delivery I'll get the chicane kit and AFX spindles mounted up.

I havent been able to locate my Camera (still packed up) so I dont have any pics to update. I'll get them soon though.

My Rendering is nearing completion with Hermance Designs, Its looking pretty good. A couple minor Tweaks and Ill get it posted up.

Spiffav8 09-26-2012 07:20 PM

Good to hear that things will be moving right along with the project. Sounds like you've got enough to keep you busy for a few. Looking forward to the updates.

Welcome home.

I got the left quarter clamped in place it needs some work to make it fit right.

tomorrow I'm going to finish removing the right quarter around the roof and door jam. I need to do some patch work in a couple places before I put it all back together.

sorry about the crappy Iphone pics.

Car looks awesome broseph.

I'm making a trip to DC and possibly VA around late May if you're not out I'll have to see if I can stop by. Hell at this rate it might even be done by then!

johnnymac46 01-19-2013 08:02 AM

I've been holding out

I havent posted in a while....Heres the update

I drove home to Minnesota for Thanksgiving I had to pick up my dog that my parents where watching over deployment. On the drive back I stopped in Indiana and picked up my new motor.

The Motor is an L92 out of an 08 Escalade, with an LS3 intake, Mast Cam and Spring kit, Mast Oil Pan, and Holley LS Accessory drive for.

Loaded in the truck

After the long voyage finally in VA
http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...FB234457D6.jpg

I Ordered Speedtech LS motor plates and mounts, and transmission crossmember for T56. Anyone who as actually seen my garage understands that there is no room to store anything so I had to drop the motor into the car.

Last weekend I got a little more work done on the rear end of the car, I managed to get the right outer wheelwell swapped out. Todays Project...The Left side.

I've still got a long way to go to get this thing back together....It never Ends.

johnnymac46 07-11-2013 03:41 PM

little update not much, I'm trying to get my car back together before I deploy again. Some stuff came up my life financially so I'm having to sell off the motor for now. Hopefully my next deployment will fix that problem.

I was able to finish up the outer wheel wells and Minitubs and working to get the quarter panels fitted.

johnnymac46 07-17-2013 09:58 AM

Making some slow progress trying to get the quarters fitted. I'm really starting to wish I would have farmed this one out to some professionals. getting everything clamped into place and a few sheetmetal screws.

First time installing quarters will give you a lot of respect for the guys who can throw them on in their sleep.

Taking a break today and Ill hit it again later in the week. Working in the driveway is not the deal when you live in the Virginia beach heat/ humidity.

Great progress!! I can't imagine taking a car apart as far as you have. I'm sure it's a pain to get everything to fit the way it's supposed to, but it will be worth it!!

Keep at it!
