I'M sorry to get longwinded but I also forgot to thank Ben Hermance and say how great he is to work with and I hope we did your designs justice
Can't wait to do it again

Hdesign 07-11-2011 05:26 PM

I just want to say congrats to the Goolsby Customs crew on the Builder's Choice award! These are really the first completed pix I'm seeing along with everyone else! Hats off to them!

They are truly a class act and evidently can run with the big dogs too. It was a pleasure working with the team during the design phase and I really enjoyed the challenge of working on a car that gets totally ignored by everyone.

As far as the top 5 recognition, I think the judges simply had different criteria than the direction this car took. Although, I haven't seen it up close. The plan was to carve a swan out of the "ugly duckling". Then make it into what we envisioned a modern version of a 71 Mustang Concept Car would have looked like had the designers not been heavily medicated and the accountants and execs were locked in a janitor's closet. It was totally re-proportioned with some modern details added to bring it up to date but it was supposed to look like very little was done to it. We just eliminated the ugly elements end emphasized the beautiful ones. By those standards, I'd say it was very successful. Well done Goolsby Customs!

As we say in Boston....there's always next year.

RECOVERY ROOM 07-11-2011 05:28 PM

The car should have been in top 5...Ben awsum design work inside and out, Nuff said

Lowfast 07-11-2011 06:03 PM

Top five or not it is still absolutely SICK!

srh3trinity 07-11-2011 06:15 PM

It came out looking great guys! That is the car that ford should have built in 1971, or at least as a concept. It came out so nice.

GoolsbyCustoms 07-11-2011 06:20 PM

Thanks Ben it was a real pleasure and we will definately be doing it again ..... Soon

And thanks to you too Tracy but I want to make it clear the top 5 cars were worthy of it all and I really don't want anyone to get the impression of us being sore losers or demean the other cars I consider them all my friends and wouldn't want to jeopardize that at all but again thanks for the compliment and I'm not trying to call you out just clearing the air

RECOVERY ROOM 07-11-2011 08:29 PM

I agree completely, all top five earned there spot. I really like the fact that you took a overlooked car and made it bad ass. That took some skills by all involved. All the big builders I talked to were impressed. M&M do great interior work also. There good people

garickman 07-11-2011 08:38 PM

I agree with you that the top 5 cars are worthy and absolutley amazing, but I think your mustang was possibly the nicest mustang of all the contenders. Beautiful work and you and your client should be proud.

waynieZ 07-11-2011 11:53 PM

Ben great design, and build team awesome execution ! I love this car. Beautiful work.

toddshotrods 07-12-2011 04:52 AM

Sweet car - it should have been in the Top 5, IMO.

unrulyprocuda 07-12-2011 08:37 PM

Goodguys show top five

If it makes you feel better on the ride home from the show we talked about what cars made an impression and what top five cars we liked the most and all three of us agreed that you car was in the top five excellent build guys you have raised the bar higher now the next guys have to step it up.Guess what the years not over there are more shows left good luck in the future hell i loved it and im a mopar guy

Musclerodz 07-12-2011 10:57 PM

Mustang was awesome to see in person. ou guys took and ugly car and made it into something to look at. Definitely deserved a spot in the top 5, but there was just too many exceptional cars to pick from this year and someone was going to be left out. Congrats on the builders choice award

RPM HOTRODS 07-13-2011 06:04 AM

Guys, First I have to say your build was outstanding. I was certain that it was going to be a top 5 car for sure, but what do I know. You guys did a awesome job and the details are all killer. But I still don't know how you guys got a Builders Choice Award???? LOL It was good seeing you guys again, wish it wasn't so crazy all weekend and we had more time to hang out.

hifi875 07-13-2011 09:49 AM

i really like the car and also thought it would be a top 5. All cars were deserving but i thought this car deserved it more than the 67 fastback. That car is very nice, but been aroung for a while(saw it last year at street rod nationals). The mods and detail on this car were alot stronger. just my .02

Wow, great first post! To me, this is more of an extreme case of ignorance on your part! I am sure that everyone involved in the build really appreciates your enlightening opinion on what you would have done. I really don't get why people like you feel the need to go onto a thread and post crap like this.

There are a lot of good attacks in your first post. Makes you wonder who didn't have the nerve to post this under their actual username:_paranoid :_paranoid If this is an actual newbee you may want to rethink your introductory post. Or maybe post pictures of your can and let everyone have a run at telling you what they think you did wrong.

The Goolsby crew had the vision to create an incredible car out of one of the ugliest Mustangs ever produced. If anything, this car has not gotten as much attention and publicity as it deserves.

He builds Mustangs. Has a right to his opinion, but not the ideal way to start out on a site. ;)

I want to add that I do not know the Goolsby crew personally, but they did a great job with what was considered the ugly step-sister of the Mustangs. And the Ring Bros? Besides being the nicest guys you'll ever meet, and uber-talented, they must be doing something right as they keep winning award after award with their builds.

Really dude? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but to come on here very first post and personally attack someones vision and hard work and then try to thinly veil the attack by not liking Ring Brothers cars either? This may not be the forum for you.

FETorino 04-14-2012 09:05 PM

As I told Modmach on his thread

https://lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=4961

I never liked that year of mustang but I like yours. No wait I love yours.

I've always thought the Ford designers had a lot of good ideas that the bean counters and the materials of the day didn't allow them to execute when they built those cars.

That car is beautiful; yet still recognizable as a grown up version of the bucked toothed pimple faced kid it was in the early 70s.

Awesome just awesome. It could only be better if it was a Torino.

The nerve of some people. I'm with you on this....it's a masked account. :thmbsdwn: :thmbsdwn:

Hdesign 04-15-2012 05:05 AM

Uncle Rico strikes again. I'll tell Jonathan and Josh that we should scrub the plans we have on all the new projects, apparently we missed the new trend in disco-touring that's sweeping the nation. I should just put down my pencils and markers and brush up on my LSD induced wizard murals and dancing bears. I swear I know this guy from every New England car show I've ever been to.

Since you have it all figured out, sounds like it's time for you to step up, get in the shop and show everyone how it's done!

I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong!

Everyone needs to remember that light travels faster than sound so people often appear bright until they speak.

It's best to ignore him and focus on what a stellar build this is. Great vision, great execution over the top but not over done. I need to get some of that moonshine those guys at Goolsby are drinking that leads to these kind of visions. It is obviously a euphoric high.

LILBuzzy 04-15-2012 05:51 PM

"Some cool mods..."

dude, you should have just stopped there. so, you just don't get the "pegasus" concept. it's ok. there will be others you might like. i'm fairly certain the "goolsby crew" will gladly build you one just the way you want it. give em a call and see if you guys can get together.

GoolsbyCustoms 04-16-2012 08:15 AM

Well looks like we had a little troll drama this weekend , well everyone is entitled to their own opinion no matter how wrong, or outdated they are , anyway thanks everyone for the support its great to have you guys on our side. Ill take this opportunity for a shameless plug and let everyone know that Pegasus is in the June issue of HotRod, check it out John Jackson did a great job as always......especially hiding all that "2005 billet stuff" , I will have to get someone to do a photoshop "shackle up" and post that and see if it gets his approval

I like these pics much better than the ones that were in Hot Rod:thumbsup:

GoolsbyCustoms 04-21-2012 06:13 AM

? I don't understand ?

FETorino 04-21-2012 10:06 AM

Look the best thing you can do is distance yourself from that hideous Ford.

Not because I like the car but because I hate to see you guys suffer with the controversy I'll come pick it up and hide it out here in my garage in CA. Nobody will know its yours anymore and if somebody sees it I'll just tell them its mine. :unibrow:

If you had just built a Torino everyone would have loved it.

Bucketlist2012 04-21-2012 10:10 AM

Good looking out , but it's already in the shop ,for a repaint and lengthen the front end back to stock ,... Maybe a couple inches longer, who knows maybe we can talk the owner into a Ranchero conversion:lol:

Gatekeeper 04-21-2012 04:32 PM

Awesome ride, I saw this car last year at the Shades of the Past Rod Run.

Maybe a little rake and some slotted mags too. Don't forget to de-minitub it while you are at it.
