I built a 64 Chevelle because every one had or was building a 69 Camaro. Always liked chevelles and still do. I than came across lateral g. In no time I knew I had to build a 69 Camaro.
You can not go wrong , build another one or two

Thanks and if your going to run the hangers as I did. You will need something to clamp or hold grommet together. Or you can just weld a tab to your exhaust another to body , sandwich the grommet and hold everything together with a 3/8" bolt.

I have always loved that body style and if I didn't have kids I would own one for sure.

The Camaro is coming along great. Now we are tweaking it because it looks like it's going to Sema so we are doing things that weren't in the original plan.

frankv11 07-26-2013 10:28 AM

done with my boys project. more work than anticipated and I will still be making a HURST shifter pull handle. the bat is just temporary also working or rear defuser not final http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps252c74be.jpg
getting back to 69 , hoping to put in a few weeks worth of work.
working on mirrors had two pairs. yellow ones have a smaller mirror housing and mirror sits flush to it which i like but had taller mounting stems than others as you can see. will be using the shorter one to get mirrors tucked in as close as possible.
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps72ff093d.jpg
in order to swap base / stem. remote had to be cut and that just opened a can of warms. everything just fell apart as it held on by the tension on the remote. in order to make it manual swivel type for driver side.I hacked up a passenger side mirror to use it's swivel but being that it was a passenger side made it difficult. after a few hours of trial and error and some fine tuning it got done. very happy with solid and crisp the mirror motion.

looking to recess them into door for final level.

frankv11 09-25-2013 08:41 AM

got AC compressor in stock location and now clears DSE sub.http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6e54a696.jpg
also been working on my center console.http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps83bbdf68.jpghttp://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...pscf9a388d.jpghttp://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psefbe2118.jpg
and of course what every protouring car needs ( a cup holder )http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psdbc673a4.jpg
reinforced E brake. my first one was collapsing the floor.http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps04fcf8a5.jpg
also working on dashboard design , made these AC vents , planning to run four. two on top center and one per side at mid way. http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9e26294d.jpgwill also begin work on cluster panel just waiting on some gauges.
got a few other items done like pedals and EXHAUST.

D

tubbed69 09-27-2013 06:21 PM

great work Frank,very good ideas

frankv11 01-24-2014 09:58 PM

got some progress done.

made a gauge panel from scratch almost exact as stock because i like the look of original (the way it curves and kind of hugs driver )the curve was key and the most difficult part to get right. needed to be metal so I can weld AC vents plus some other "little plans i have for it".
just got Classic Instruments Autocross Gauges ( YELLOW ONES ), Restomod Air unit, Radiator coming by way of ENTROPY radiator w built in oil cooler. Engine harness is next on list.

back to dash I'm also changing dash pad completely ( stock is just so crappy ) so I got to building the base / structure for it, to incorporate the upper AC vents into it and getting rid of flat vertical portion on passenger side. new pad will follow the curve of the actual dashboard structure so the ac vents will pop out a bit more.
this upper portion is a separate piece that will get foam and then leather. so this piece below comes off less the AC vent housing those are welded to dashboard.
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps89a0d55c.jpg
this is not even halfway done and been at it for a week ( just want a very tight fit ) NICE SURPRICE COMING ON for this clusterhttp://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps87356fc3.jpg
this is the passenger portion mentioned http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps452f1234.jpghttp://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psf087876d.jpghttp://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psdfddaabd.jpg
made cluster panel to fit OEM dash pad just incase I didn't like the new design, but no going back. i'm feeling the new look.
Restomod air is one nice unit. a friend of mine brought one over by another manufacturer and its no comparison built him his bracket and sent him on his wayhttp://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps09d7c060.jpg

Thanks Jeff. trying to make my own ( unique ) without crossing the line and sacrificing the integrity of the car. It's a balancing act.

Wow, it's looks like you are really on your game... :welder: :weld: I may have missed it, but have you decided on a paint scheme?

chichirone 01-26-2014 06:45 AM

Frank, awesome build thread. The dash details and center console design are way cool. Keep it up!

The pics of the bumper and front end are excellent. Love the up close of the reliefs cut into the bumper radius for fittment.

Your two year olds "hot rod" build is sweet. Need to get one of those done for my niece and nephew.

Look forward to your next round of updates.

no paint scheme yet, going to run a flat color/primer for a while to get all the bugs and " i wish would have done that " out of the way.
