Gents,

I appreciate the show of support from all of you to all three of us. It can be awkward in these situations, but no matter what happens I'm happy to have been considered. Whomever goes I see it as a win-win since I dig anyone who is willing to flog their pride-and-joy on-track.

I'll be running Jackass on the adjacent track at Spring Mountain. I'll be there, just not competing. Getting lots of laps in though.

Do you plan on doing high speed runs on the 160?

Rybar 10-14-2010 03:30 PM

Not sure if anybody suggested but how about Ron Shwarz's (57hemicuda on this site) 66 Mustang (Muttstang)

The car is badass and would be killer at the event.

Stuart Adams 10-14-2010 03:45 PM

Just a side note. The car has to be up to the specs that they require for the event. Check and make sure first before committing, my .02.

No pressure Scott

Good point Stuart. The rules are posted and you must have working brake lights, head lights, turn signals, cigarette lighter, etc.

My offer stands as well. If the car that goes does not need a set of tires, but needs funds, DriverzInc is in to help with either $500 or tires to whomever may need it. Keep me informed... :lateral:

My vote goes towards Jeff. Hes got a great set up and experienced. Maybe Im a little bias:D , but Id like to see it go to a local fanatic here in WI. or more or less the midwest. Plus it would be a great oppurtunity for him and Telly to hook up for the tour down there.

Either way its a tough call towards representation for Lat G considering the contenders play a part on both Lat G and Pro touring. Question is which one is more dedicated to this site.

XcYZ 10-14-2010 05:50 PM

After a lot of discussions and deliberations, Jeff Van Buren will be taking the invite.

Edit... CarlC will be taking Jeff's spot as Jeff has elected to not proceed.

Tom.A 10-14-2010 05:58 PM

Congrats Jeff:thumbsup: Go get them.

CarlC 10-14-2010 06:03 PM

Go Jeff!

nvr2fst 10-14-2010 06:07 PM

Oh Yea!

Jeff and Telly let me know if I can help out in any way prior to departure. First stop out on the road should be my place!

Good choice Scott.I hope everybody that atends, has a geat time, does well, and stay's safe, traveling to & from,& during the event.I wish I would have pushed my self a little harder last year. But still had a great time. This was quite an intimadating event for me.GO HAVE FUN guys !!!

Ron in SoCal 10-14-2010 06:30 PM

Congrats Jeff!

From a member perspective even though it was a tough decision for you Scott, I think it was a no lose proposition. One gets to go, he's a member of Lat G, and we're all rooting for him. More importantly, those that were not chosen have something to shoot for next year!

Now if I could only get a spectator invite...:unibrow:

Track Junky 10-14-2010 06:30 PM

Congradulations Jeff, it certainly went to the right person and to be honest I am relieved. I do have one thing to add.....all of you that decided you were going to put up cash or tires to help anybody that didn't have the finances is welcome to use my boat anytime you like. I have a 30' Regal and am 2 minutes from Folsom Lake and about an hour and a half from lake Tahoe. Take it on a family vacation to Tahoe for as long as you would like. Hell, it has all of the amenities including in door bathroom and stove top.

This is a great community here and I am proud to be a part of it!!:lateral:

pokey64 10-14-2010 06:34 PM

It's great to see another guy from the Midwest representing. Good luck Jeff!!!

Great choice Scott!

Blake Foster 10-14-2010 08:43 PM

Bow Tie 67 10-14-2010 08:55 PM

Congrats Jeff, give them h*ll, if you need help with anything give me a call.

Van B 10-14-2010 09:03 PM

Thanks everybody and especially thanks to Scott for thinking enough of me and my car to choose me to represent Lateral-G. I have been PM ing and talking to Scott since yesterday morning and have had a lot of deep thought about whether to accept or to have him move on to Carl or Gaetano. Either would have done him proud. I only hope that I can fill the shoes.

I need to get my head into the autocross and speed stop challenge. At Road America (my home track) I was able to place 5th in the road course behind Kyle Tucker, Ryan Matthews, Brian Finch and Jeff Schwartz. Stielow, Finch, Tucker and I am sure numerous others that I am not thinking of, will be tough. It is an honor just to be selected.

Todd, I hope I don't need the tools or shop space, but I will be sure to take you up on it if I do.

The 2nd toughest part of the decision was how to get the car out there. Telly V has access to a two car trailer and can haul mine with his, but it is not enclosed. I am still open to suggestions regarding enclosed transport from Wisconsin or the Chicago area to and from Vegas as I do not have the time available to me to trailer it out and back myself. If anyone has any reasonably priced options for me, please PM me.

Spending the money on transport, hotel, airfare, etc. was a tough sale with the wife. She is being a good sport, but I am sure I am going to hear about if for three weeks before I go. I am sure I will have to do a bunch of a$$ kissing up until and after I am back.

Thanks again, and I will try not to disappoint!

Rybar 10-14-2010 09:50 PM

Congrats Jeff! Go represent Lat-G for us. Great choice Scott

Vince@Meanstreets 10-14-2010 09:54 PM

Great job Scott, I know that was a tough decision.

Jeff, congrats, I know you will go out there and rip it up. Put some rubber down for us....wait, that sounds weird but you know what I mean.

Jeff,

What are the specs on the car? I would have check PT,com, but the site is down right now.

Congratulations on the invite. I can't wait to see it at the track.

Congrats on the selection.....can you make sure to run one of those nifty in- car camera setups so chumps like me can feel like we were there?

Have fun:lateral:

Track Junky 10-15-2010 03:57 AM

Jeff, just before you got picked I had finally sold it to the wife. Even with the backing of other members she still wasn't buying it because I had to take a week off work.

It finally boiled down to letting her buy a tread mill and a Disneyland vacation for the family, LOL.

Good luck with the wife thing I know what your going through and secondly good luck on the transport.

ccracin 10-15-2010 05:11 AM

Good Luck Jeff. The best part about this community is there was no wrong answer here. I would have had no issue supporting any of the guys mentioned for the invite. The members here that are willing to sponsor the Lateral-G representative should be applauded!:hail: I spent a lot of years fielding oval track stock cars and could not have done it without great sponsors. In today's economy they are very hard to come by. You guys are top notch.

Scott, you should be very proud of what you have started here! I have never been involved in anything that has this many people with a common interest that come together for each other so often. Again :hail: !

Keep us posted on the progress Jeff. We're pulling for yah!
