I had no idea how much work it would take to order one of these rigs! Of course... I'm making it more work than it should have to be because of the choice to do all custom built. But what the heck -- I think everyone should get what they want -- and not settle -- and not get what they DO NOT want.
Between the trailer -- and the options and choices on the toter -- it's amazing all the little things to discuss. Came up with a 36' gooseneck stacker -- which gives me 36' of upper deck -- which will take the Mustang and the '32 and have 2' of dead space between the rear - the middle and the front... both of these cars are only 51 or 52" tall -- and the upper deck is 57". Since I'm doing an "internal" lift -- I can actually vary that space for the car on the back end a little. I measured the MBZ -- that big ole POS is 17' long and 58" tall -- so it will have to ride on the main deck... which will be 28' -- and that's plenty with cabinets etc up front... and room for spare tires etc. The tailgate is hydraulic -- but that's just to open and close since it's not a lift gate. I'm also having two axles -- @ 14,000# each -- and 22.5" wheels... and they'll be spread axles. I'll have a better idea -- and a line item list -- on Tuesday for all the other stuff. I have to tell you guys -- this is kinda fun to say the least! And I can assure you that we'll all put this bad boy to good use! :unibrow: |

Last week was a classic example of where we would have used it -- I'd have stayed in Scottsdale and then headed over for Del Mar... then... who knows where but it would have been in the SUN! Not rusting away up here! Probably would have called Charley to see if I could leave it there - and back the MBZ out and head home - then back down for April Thunderhill event. :woot: Not sure I can afford the rent he would want to charge me though. |

Greg, if I can help you out in the flooring options/selection process I'd be glad to consult. Having functional yet stylish products in RV's insures positive first impressions (owner & guests) and reduces the maintenance, cleaning, and replacement cycles. Traffic is very concentrated in the confined spaces of RV's so soiling and wear is accelerated compared to normal/typical residential and commercial applications. The objective is more time recreating and less maintaining and upholding the proper Weld image. :D

Well thanks for the offer! But they have this stuff down pretty well... This is the floor I've chosen -- Granite -- and it will have hyrdonic under floor heat... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a.../img_4896b.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/img_4940.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r_combined.jpg Trailer - which is their new design with the "full size" tires... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...T4513-Copy.jpg |
One thing I'm finding out in this "process" is that there's a whole bunch of regulations to deal with!
Washington allows 75' total combined length.... and California only allows 65' but if I'm licensed in Washington then they go by Washington rules... so I'm okay there. The problem is a 36' stacker and a 24' toter is over the limit by a lot! So I'm going to have to do some trimming somewhere! The toter, bumper to ball is 40' 6" and the stacker is 36' 7"..... OOPS! |
Like the heat system, doesn't get much better. Granite will only require dust mopping, low maintenance plus. Check out Pacificlooms.com if custom wool rugs of your design interest you. The only concern I see is the shower floor, light colors like that collect foot oils which show as dark, also that type of tile can have high/low pressure points which may result in "stingers" that make you say *@!#.
Overall it looks VERY impressive! The surface area of those trailer sides says billboard revenue........Ironworks? :unibrow: |
so you only need to trim 2 feet?
|
I think I've created a monster... Next he is gonna need alot bigger shop.

That's so awesome Greg. You'll be towing/vacationing/racing in style....

Crown molding and granite? You sure your wife isn't the one choosing the options? Just kidding Greg. No doubt a beautiful trailer.

Wow.. Greg that is a home away from home. :D

According to Darryl -- a 22' "box" and a 34' stacker would be only (I say that tongue in cheek) 71.5' Which means I have some room! I've asked for the overall length of a 24' toter and a 36' stacker. We'll have to wait for an answer. |

Funny --- she was very apprehensive about going to Bondurant! Once there -- they do their magic... She drove for 3 days (High Performance Driving School). On Friday when she went for a walk with her GF down there she said she was trying to clip the apexes! And had dreamed all night about heel and toe.. But the best thing is -- she finally understood the "addiction". :woot: |
Charley.... Look at it this way...
I'll park the big ole POS at your place (indoors btw) and then I can just fly in and out... you bring the rig with both Mustangs and a Busch Cup car...   :woot: |
as soon as the title shows up in my name...

Now who's gonna pic up the tab for the civil engineers required to ensure safe traversing/parking of that pig on Charlie's lilly pad? |

I recommend a 5" thick slab, 6 sack mix of concrete, with 2" of gravel underneath with wire mesh. I can do it for $4/sf and have her done in two days. |
If you google earth 35222 County Road 24 Woodland you will see I am already owned by a concrete guy.

Personally, I think dark flooring in a car rig is a mistake. The foot prints and dirt will drive you nuts. You won't be camping at the 4 seasons all the time.:D

Hey Greg,
What date are you coming to Thunderhill? Maybe come watch you. |
Shelby Club deal on April 28-29
|
Mike ----
What Charley said... end of April. Todd ---- I don't think it's going to matter what kind of floor or what color it is. It's going to be filthy at a track event. I just figured the granite would be easier to mop up and it might hold up better in the long run. The "standard" is carpet and wood... and that, I think, would be a big mistake. But you've got me thinking now. |

Now that Gwen is retired... we're going to try to use show dates and track dates as an "excuse" to get out of the Pacific NorthWet in the winter... and be able to just come and go as we please. I'm a bit "nomadic" and am thinking that I'd use this rig the same way we used to use our boat. Or at least I'm hoping that's the case... and that the hassle factor of a rig this size is offset by the "go where I want when I want stay as long as I want". Last week, for an example, I'd have stayed in Scottsdale a couple more days -- then headed for Del Mar Nats... then gone home up the coast. I'd have had the track car - the hot rod - and the regular car with me... Gwen would have flown home - and I'd have been a free man!  |
Is Gwen gonna punch me or hug me for getting you out of the house ....
