Looks like we have alot of room.. but when we install the aprons.. we start filling up the engine compartment..

The LS engine in this build will make this car perform as the owner wants it too & easy to service.. The goal is for Nick to attend all the events with his dad.. go to driving school.. have fun! In the end .. we want a car that can be upgraded as easy as possible.. The LS engine does that..

Even though it's not my favorite setup, well, that's the client's choice, and still it's a really good choice, considering the economy of an LS engine compared to a 5.0. Dunno, I like it, it's different, and we should wait for the result to be sure if it's for the best or the worst, though I don't think it's for the worst. Shiny side up guys!

Sorry it's a little late but I was thinking, if the customer wants the LS to look a little less out of place you can do the front mount distributor conversion along with a carb style intake and paint the engine Ford blue. That should really cause some double takes. Just check out RSX302's built on p-t.com Just a thought. Love your work Cris so I know the car is going to turn out great no matter what.

When I had to give up my custom foundation for the car.. I was bummed.. but the owner gave me something in return to build for the Mustangs that I can use in the future..

Here is the suspension we have been working on for the last 6 weeks.. This has been a very time consuming process.. But my goal from now on is to build a car @ the wheels & the stance that me & the owner want.. Currently were are working on jig design for control arms & begin machining all components for control arms.. We will build one chassis to proof all of suspension geomerty.. then build the final one for the car... The first prototype will be for Camaro.. Which I have about four of them waiting for new sub-frames.. Big investment of time & design for JCG.. but now I will have control of things being done my way in the future..

C6 Corvette Geomerty with 4th gen F body lower control arm arm placement..

Hey Cris,

Did you push the firewall back to make the pedals more comfortable for the driver? Also which master cylinders are those? I am running into some issues with pedal placement in my camaro and was debating on pushing my firewall back to move the pedals back or just putting the master cylinders inside and then running a remote line through the firewall to reservoirs. Thanks! Car looks awesome though!

tones2SS 02-09-2012 05:27 PM

Great update Cris. Looking good.

Cris@JCG 02-11-2012 05:18 PM

Yes.. We pushed back the firewall but for the purpose of getting the engine back as far as we could... The pedals did end up moving back about 1 inch..

The pedal base & M/C are Wilwood ..

Thanks for the props!

We need to start building rear frame rails but needed to find out how big of a tire could fit in the back with maintaining the the rear fold down seat.. So.. it was time to stretch the car.. We have pulled it about 2 inches per side without losing the look of the car...

We fab'ed some jigs to maintain a even stectch on the car & here are some of the results so far.. She's got some hips now!

Let's start a bet

I say 12.5"

Cris@JCG 02-20-2012 07:14 AM

We managed to get 15.5 inches of wheel tub space with the stetch & a small mini tub.. the 335-30-19 should fit with no problem!

Dang brother - nice stretch. Happy to see your tucking 335's Ya know if you go with the "Pilots" you can fit the 345's are they are about 1" skinner then the KDW.

and the plus factor is they are taller and would look really nice on that big bad mustang.

btw - keep up the great work and I look forward to your posts.

Cris@JCG 02-21-2012 07:53 AM

We are gonna keep the tire size the same as Blu Balz.. The owner wants to have one size fit both cars so that tires & wheels are kept in stock for events...

Thanks for the prop's Marty! This car will not be carrying bicycles..

Cris@JCG 02-22-2012 02:00 PM

Yeah! The Stang is getting a serious butt lift.. Butt I think we are keeping the shape of the car without distorting it to much..

Inspiring work!

I read through your builds (and several others as well) & I'm constantly saying to myself " man.... that tool/gadget/method is a great idea to get the desired result". Props to those of you that continue to 'push' what can be done within these classic body lines, well...... w/o losing the classic body lines.

X 1000 and I'm sure Chris would love to but, at the end of the day, he has to do what the owner wants.

Looking awesome, Cris!
Love that you were able to mod the body without loosing the lines! Like the mockup axle too!

Kendall Burleson 03-08-2012 10:48 AM

Somebody talked the owner into it. It started with the Coyote. Somebody can talk him out of the LS.:D

No matter what I'm sure it will be a nice car the quarters look good in the picture.

At least change the build name I ain"t no Wile E Coyote anymore:rolleyes:

Cris@JCG 05-29-2012 10:26 AM

I will have some update pics later this week... The whole floor structure is done & currently working on the rear suspension...

This Stang will be LS powered! Sorry guys... The owner is likes N/A engines.. 302 CI vs 376 CI.. plus the room to stick a LS7 in it.. Owners like to race!

Mods.. Can we please remove Wile E, Coyote from the name please... Thank you!

Cris@JCG 07-10-2012 10:21 AM

We finally got around to finishing the rear suspension design on the Mustang.. We are getting pcs laser cut this week.. We are building a cage right now & finishing up the rear stucture... next week we finish the design on the front suspension...

Cris@JCG 07-10-2012 10:29 AM

The orignal Pot metal bumper extensions were not working for us with the stretch & the carbon fiber rear bumper... So.. We made our own out of sheetmetal & built them into the body...

Cris@JCG 08-06-2012 11:32 AM

It has been a while since I have any updates but here are a few... Still have parts being laser cut for rear suspension & parts are being machined... I have a few more new parts coming here pretty soon that I will show when I have the rear suspension done..

Cris, I thought I read somewhere in this tread that this was going to be a simpler build compared to BB  I don't think you are sticking to that anymore are you

Datsbad 08-06-2012 07:39 PM

Looks nice Chris , hard to believe the owner changed his mind mid stream . Hopefully no more changes , that car is screaming for the Coyote engine . Wouldn't want to give him to much HP LOL !

DFRESH 08-06-2012 08:06 PM

Dude, that thing is going to be sweet. You guys are amazing as always.

Cris@JCG 08-06-2012 08:47 PM

Rick- This is a simpler build than BB.. We keep the orginal roof, doors, stock dash, & instead of a Coyote.. a 525 HP LS3... :D

Jason- The change on the engine was a mutal descision between me & the owner.. As for the other changes from the start to now have be things that I have been allowed to do as part of my R&D for my venture into the Ford world..

:captain: :wow: , you guys are turning out some nice fabrication. I see some really nice detail in those last pictures. Love learning from ya Chris, Im liking it. Inspirational!

Cris@JCG 08-06-2012 09:04 PM

Thank you sir! Primo.. My main fabricator just keeps getting better with time.. with the rest of my crew! Juan.. my designer of my suspension in CAD is a big asset to what I have been doing lately... Plus my machinist KR..

Casey Cronin is another big tool to my current venture in the suspension world.. Today we spent some time discussing Anti-Squat, the effect of body roll on a panard bar adjustment, spring rates & posi units..
