Beautiful car! The color you choose for the car looks awesome. I'm considering doing the z28 stripes on my car with that color. How do you think it will look with red? At the very least I want to do the fuel cell and frame that color.

I should do a build thread over here...

Where did you find the Pfadt bushings? I did the Zr1 hubs on Steve's advice as well.

Hey Corey! Your car def belongs over here, although I would't blame you if you decided to maintain a single build thread. Maybe some highlights as you progress?

Bushings are big topic. You can take a second on your house and buy the spherical alum from Pfadt or plead w them to sell you just the Poly fronts. Vette Brakes and Performance also makes a nice set of Poly/Graphite fronts only.

As far as colors - I'm no design expert - but I'm not sure the Z28 stripes work for my eye. Maybe reverse them? Or solid charcoal w red frame and fuel cell? The colors def look great together so what do I know?

A couple more...

I agree. I think if you're gonna go red paint, some darker charcoal/grey stripes would be a great choice.

Corey, definitely start a build thread on Lat G.

Hey Ron - car is coming along real nice! Glad to see you settled on a year  . Unfortunately looks like you decided to go through that learning curve anyway, discovering that most are not what they seem under the paint. Seems like you managed to side-step that mess and find yourself a nice '69. Cannot believe the luck on that delivery - that's Murphy right there. But you're making the most of it and you've made a ton of progress in a short amount of time. Some real interesting stuff you are considering. Give me a call sometime and we can talk engines, dry sumps, bumpers and roll bars :-) I'll be keeping a close eye on your progress and look forward to seeing the car in person.

Cheers!
G.

Hey Gregg! Glad to see you posting over here and thanks for the props. You should do a mini build thread over here and put up some eye candy. I'll call you for sure as those are all topics I need to deal with! Excellent post over at PT as well...

Thx Men....sorry no tease inended. Need to go to dinner and wanted to sneak in a few pics. I do believe an LS3 based 416 w good heads and propper cam is a great way to spin up R's, but I had a chance to grab this and I was heading toward 400+ so it just made sense to do it now. Here's the plan:

Break it down, mic/blueprint everything and machine where necessary. Slight port on the LS7 CNC heads, possibly thow some Manley race valves in there (tbd). Match a cam to the best flow rate I can get. Order some custom Mahle pistons (builder likes those) and coat those and the stock titanium forged rods. Crank is already forged and balance the whole assy. Zero balance the alum Mcleod flywheel. This should give me as strong a bottom/top end as possible, but I'm open to critique...

I'm leaning toward an update to the dry sump system. I'll get w Jon @ Speartech and get a flash to match the mods for initial start up and then go to a chasis dyno....once i get out of jail and finish the build. :haha:

... and that's why we all have LS engines. Think of them as being like models without make up. They might not be super amazing looking, with plastic intake manifolds, coil packs, etc. and they might be downright impossible to understand with certain EFI systems, but at the end of the day they are still lithe.

Ron, I was just about to ask what happened with the engine deal. Glad you finally have one!

Matt

OUCH! Damn, my wife just slapped me upside the head for suggesting I might want to go with Lambo Orange. All I said was the color goes well with black and silver. WTF?

Lookin' good, I always liked that style. I bought a set of the Boze Mesh last year but never used them. Sold them a couple weeks after I bought them. Plan was to stretch the rear quarter panels with the back space that I ordered but I chickened out.
