Thanks for all of the positive comments about the car. We are obviously extremely pleased with the results ourselves. It was great getting to meet you and Teresa this weekend as well. Never had a chance to talk to Kevin at all. We'll have to make sure we get some time at the next event.

mexMan 07-03-2011 08:19 PM

I do feel very lucky to have a car like this. I owe a big thanks to Randy Johnson at D & Z Customs for building the Chevelle and passing it on to us as well as the Gerbers at Roadster Shop for taking it to the next level. When we bought the car from Randy last year we thought it was the coolest '66 out there. Never thought we would be rebuilding it a year later, but what a difference. The street manners with the new chassis and IRS are so much better and the stance is killer!

These are brand new from Weld Racing. RT-S 74s, 18" x 9.5" front and 18" x 12" rear. Tires are 275/35/18 and 335/30/18 Michelin PS2s.

coolwelder62 07-06-2011 02:55 PM

Scott

The Roadster Shop chassis has a more narrow track width from stock so my sizing may not be a very good reference for someone with a stock frame. The new Weld wheels are 18 x 9.5" in front with 6.6" bs. We had to run a small spacer as the exact sizing we needed was not available. The Kenesis wheels have 6.375" bs on the front, same size wheels. The rears are 18 x 12" with 7.6" bs.
Good luck Chevelle shopping. It would be really cool to see more of them out at the events. Helps balance out the Camaro population.

That is such a nice car.:hail:

Man,I have to say it agin.I LIKE THIS CHEVELLE.What is so cool about Chris and Lynda's 66 Chevelle is it just look's like a real nice restored chevelle. No body mod's,it has all the beauitful trim GM's designer's gave it.It's got an awesome stance,But man it is quick, drive's and handle's as well as any PT car I've ever seen around a Goodguy's Autox.I can't wait to see it agin at the next GG.Great chevelle Chris and Lynda.

clill 07-07-2011 07:06 AM

Thanks for the nice comments. It's always nice meeting people from the forums at the events. You should never feel out of place when you are amongst friends either. It's all about getting your car out, whatever it may be, and enjoying it.
Thanks for letting me borrow a couple of tools as well.

hifi875 07-14-2011 07:17 AM

Stielow said he got to drive the Chevelle at the Heidt's track event and loved how the car handled. Really noticed how well the IRS worked going over the rumble strips in the turns...Congrats again guys.

Thanks Charley

It was really awesome having Mark drive the car for a couple of laps. I probably should have let him try to catch James after Mary gave Mark the "you're number one" sign as they passed by, but I wanted to drive one more time. I'd like to see Mark make more than a couple of laps at another event to see how quick he could make this thing go. The Chevelle had already exceeded our expectations in every way and having Mark put his stamp of approval on the end result just seals the deal.
We started with what I thought was one of the coolest Chevelles ever, built by Randy Johnson at D & Z Customs, and the incredibly talented crew at the Roadster Shop managed to make it even better.
Thanks to all.

65_LS1_T56 07-19-2011 05:45 PM

One of the nicest 66's out there

Chris, it was nice to talk with you and Linda again at GG's and at the Crown Plaza. You have, what I think, is one of the nicest Chevelles out now, really. I don't know what it is, but it just is. Maybe the "no frills," look that Randy gave it, or maybe its the killer stance that the RS guys gave it. Maybe its both. So clean, so understated, so nice.
Hope Tony and I can hook up with you two in Chicago, on your home turf. Looking forward to showing you what we've been working on :unibrow:

Nice to get some feedback from Mark, he knows his way around cars and the tracks too.

Nick.V70 08-09-2011 10:13 AM

Man such a nice build, great work and love the stance!

Funny you should mention that as Top Gear US uses El Toro for some of their shoots!

HotRod68Camaro 09-19-2011 02:09 PM

I can't get over the stance. That car sits right.

Jr 09-19-2011 02:27 PM

Great video!

Is this car headed to optima? I sure hope to see it at the event. This car might be better than the green chevelle you build a few years ago.

scottysimp7 09-19-2011 02:48 PM

Sweet vid. Car is beautiful

ScotI 09-19-2011 02:58 PM

I love the 'simple', classic, vibe of this cars appearance vs. some of the other RS rides.
What happened w/the 1st set of wheels that were on there?
