SWEET!!! Are you getting the headers coated? If not make sure to wipe off all of the fingerprints before start up. I had a set of chrome Doug Thorleys on my last car. After running the car for a few weeks I had small little blue blotches from the oil off of my fingers.

Not only that but be prepared to keep an eye on them if you don't coat them. I think they look great in the raw and I am sure that you won't have any trouble but the possibility does exist especially in MN for even the best Stainless to oxidize. Notice I did not say the R word... that was just PC on my part out of kindness.

I can show you all sorts of examples of high grade stainless with a terminal case of the awful stuff. On a show/go car that won't play in the elements a whole bunch you should be fine, and you can always blast and coat them at some point in the future if the need arises.

Nice haul of parts and progress lately!!

Your shop is becoming more interesting all the time! I hope Max has the staff put up some more Sponsor banners and not Pooh Bear or BackYardigans and such.:P

My wife picked the color!

Minitubs almost done.

Caulked the tubs right before I came to work today. Should be dry to paint tomorrow! :)

Next step: Rear Torque-Arm install!!! :)

MaxHarvard 09-21-2011 06:27 AM

Made some progress last night. Minitubs are officially DONE. finished it up with some 3M seam sealer (friggin $35 a can!) and some rock chip paint. Looks pretty good, although I'll admit it's not my best work and there's always room for improvement.

Last night a buddy was able to help me get the motor into the speed tech front subframe. This thing is gonna be killer, that's all I can say!!

Sorry for the crappy cell pics.

We also broke the hoist link to the chain, that was a very scary moment.

Next step: Swap sub frames! :)

waynieZ 09-21-2011 09:11 AM

Nice progress, it sure is a good looking setup.

CrossRamRich 09-23-2011 10:54 PM

It's great the way all your tools come out of the box on a minitub! Nice job, cant wait to see the bad boy on the ground.

Maybe I'm just a bit thick, but I think i missed this one... ?

Here we are... FINALLY!

Front subframe... GONE!

Usher in the new SpeedTech Subframe and engine combo all as one giant unit.

This was really really easy considering how big of a piece this is. 4 bolts and BLAMMO! All was good! :)

Working on the torque arm install now and just waiting for my 9" to show up :)

waynieZ 09-26-2011 01:26 PM

It looks good on there.

I think he meant how it takes almost every tool that you have to complete a mini tub job.

Don't think I've looked at this thread since the begining, very nice

MaxHarvard 09-30-2011 10:45 AM

Just got my rear-end last night from Bear's Performance in Canada.

I've never had a "new" rear-end before so this is some exciting stuff for me. Previously, I've always had to reuse or rebuild a rear-end, but man this is some seriously awesome stuff.

Ford 9" with 3.89 gears and putting the 14" Baer rotors and 6-piston calipers on it ... YEEEEE HAAWW!! LOL

suark 10-06-2011 06:56 PM

Is the dash insert from stack also? I see the 48 hour Camaro used one too but I haven't been able to find one anywhere yet.

Had to turn the garage into a make shift studio yesterday to get some progress photos done for a project I'm working on with the car.

You could say that I "awesomed all over the place". LOL

 Love the Playpen in the foreground. Lil Max will look back on that pic someday and should be pretty proud.

On another note... Can you expand on the terminology "awesomed all over the place".:unibrow:

Since I am not familiar with the expression I am compelled to ask. Does it leave a stain?:_paranoid

Well, you know... it means I whipped out the awesome stick of power and cast an awesome spell that left it's...err... remains all over the place. The lasting effect is quite palpable. :unibrow:

It's a deep and wide 3 stall garage, roughly 900 sq ft.

Rybar 10-12-2011 12:13 PM

I like seeing that playpen aslo, your son looks like he watches you wrench and reads your car mags too

I made a 'hot rod bible" a few years ago in which I took all my old mags and put EVERY LAST tech article in a binder with clear plastic sleeves. It took well over 2 - 3" binders and they are full to the brim. I made those just for him, even before I knew I was even going to have kids. Should be awesome for him to learn! :)

Latest update.

Wired and plumbed the gas tank. Working on what exactly to do and how to wire the pump harness, should have the figured out here pretty soon. Anyone have Carl's number?

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6094/...1f4939f3_z.jpg

Got the rear 'panhard bar mount' from Speed Tech Mocked up, I really should have had a partner, but I measured 10 times, tacked it in and measured another 5 times... it's pretty darn close.

Nice a lot of room. Looking good.

Put the fuel tank in yesterday while the little guy was sleeping. Finally good to see some parts actually going on the car rather than coming off! :)
