Not a bad days work there!

There is actually a lot of room there. The bottoms of the inner fenders are not attached to anything in these pics and are way closer to the motor than they will be when completed.

The vents are functional. They house K&N air filters and there is then duct work that runs under the inner fenders to the intake.

Roadster Shop 07-02-2011 10:39 AM

Inner fenders further along and engine detail starting to take shape:

Looks great.

Question, do you guys put anything in the metal/body while working on it so it doesn't flash rust? About to get my 70 Chevelle blasted and then start body work/panel replacement. Was thinking about leaving it bare until metalwork is done then epoxy prime.

mexMan 07-02-2011 02:00 PM

OH MY GOD, the build is impecable, plain awesome, every detail on it, so clean, so cool.

Sandbagger 07-02-2011 02:19 PM

How did you guys form the upper aprons ? By the vent ? How many peices ? Pullmax, hammerform ?
I cant tell from the pics .

BBC71Nova 07-02-2011 02:55 PM

Looking great. You guys are hauling arse on this fab work.

We leave all cars in bare metal through out the build process. While under construction we generally use just a scuff pad to keep the metal clean. When the car is ready for body work we spend a lot of time metal prepping the entire care to make sure that all rust and traces of it are gone.

Roadster Shop 07-03-2011 02:40 PM

Continuing fab work on the engine detail:

Beginning to fab the recessed center portion.
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...e%20Bay/12.jpg

http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...e%20Bay/13.jpg

Pocket detail added to front.
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...e%20Bay/14.jpg

http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...e%20Bay/15.jpg

Start of the upper radiator close out panel. Also fabbed a template for the grille.
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...e%20Bay/16.jpg

black2002ls 07-03-2011 02:48 PM

What are you doing for the stereo, looks like an opening left for a double din type radio. GM Factory unit perhaps?

Roadster Shop 07-03-2011 03:38 PM

Upper radiator close out panel completed and transitioned into the inner fenders. We went back and put a seam in the the inner fender before it meets the radiator close out panel to add more detail to it. Also have the pocket installed for the BMW hood latch.

http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...e%20Bay/17.jpg

Start of the trim piece around where the engine metal work meets the close out panel.
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...e%20Bay/18.jpg

http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...e%20Bay/19.jpg

We then went back and put another seam in the forward panels coming off the intake.
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...e%20Bay/21.jpg

http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...e%20Bay/22.jpg

Everything metal finished.

Really, guys, you've blown my mind, again, I remember the first build I saw from you was C1-RS, you've raised the bar with every new build I've seen from you, congratulations.

Thanks Mex, this one is on par with the C1-RS... maybe even more detailed!

http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...e%20Bay/25.jpg

Start of valve cover design. Also have the center intake cover installed. We didn't like the look of the stock GM intake with with the rest of the metal work around it, so we fabbed a cover out of aluminum that had a similar look only with a more uniform rib design.
http://i563.photobucket.com/albums/s...e%20Bay/26.jpg

Inner fenders were removed and perforated metal inserts were added to help get heat out of the engine compartment.

A few completed pics of the engine bay in bare metal. I'm still blown away by how cool this turned out.

Is this goona be at columbus?

mexMan 07-04-2011 11:44 AM

How do you keep the hood open? Isn't it heavier to keep it up since you cutted the back of it?

user667 07-04-2011 12:00 PM

Incredible build! So many innovative ideas, sick fab work and skills! :wow:

Al Moreno 07-05-2011 10:25 AM

hifi875 07-05-2011 11:02 AM

Re-shape of the fender to add a more aggressive look and meet up with the 1-off headlights that GAC/Millwerks machined up for us.

It is way too early for that! There is going to be a pretty serious showing of cars this year from what I have heard. We'll be happy to make it in the top 5.

We really try to build each car better than the previous one. You learn a lot on each build that can be applied to the next one. We have a very motivated/competitive crew of guys that always tries to one up themselves and build something better than they just did.

Headlights

Are you guys going to market those headlights? I'd be interested in a pair....

214Chevy 07-06-2011 09:19 AM

My GOD!!!!.....Salvadore Dali, Picasso, Da'Vinci, Michaelangelo and Andy Warhol would all be jealous of those fine pieces of art you call "headlights." I want a pair and I don't even own a Nova. But, just in case I ever get one.... LOL!!
