Did a bunch of details fitting and fine tuning of the front bumper. Probably wont see any of it in the pics. Still a couple small things I want to address.
Now that the bumper is near its final state I began making the front spoiler. I use metal house flashing to make the 4 basic shapes of the spoiler. Also I made 2 curved pieces that will form the front corners. One panel does both front sections and a left and right panel for the sides. Then I trimmed and fitted the four main panels onto the car and cut the corners to fit the curved corner caps. Clecoed the pieces together along with some tape to hold it all in place. I mixed up a small batch of resin to apply over the joints to hold it all together. The next step is to remove the assembly and grind rough spots off the back and then fiberglass it solid. I will use the flashing metal for a mold for the centre duct and then cut out the opening and glass it on. |
Very nice work and I am looking forward to seeing the final spoiler. Also, I hope your garage is detached as my family is never happy when I come in the house after working with any type of fiberglass or epoxy and my garage is detached.
ps I am also not a fan of the smell. Quote:

front looks much more clean!

I work with fiberglass often at work and love working with it. The smell and the itch that others don't like doesn't bother me. I always remind her of the nail polish and acetone she uses. I always lose points on that one. lol Thanks. It looks big and flat right now but once the holes are cut it will look even better |

Hi all. Haven't had much time to really get big stuff done but have been working a bit on the little things.... you know... those 1000 tiny little things that need to get done to finish the big stuff.
Although, this weekend I got some real time on it. Got the bumpers nearly ready for chrome. The front needs a couple of small spots cleaned up and the rear needs a license plate light. Also did some work on the spoiler, still lots of details to do though. |
Looking good!

Sweeet.
|
Very nice fiberglass work.
|
You gonna take a mold off this? Pretty darn nice looking piece not too.
|
Thanks everyone.
Goosedad No plans to pull a mold. It will only fit my car anyway. Been doing the extra layers of glass for rigidity and while its drying i am figuring out how to set up the AC and fuse box. Going to need to have space also for the ECU. It all has to be relatively easy to service. I cant stand it when stuff should be easy to service and you have to remove half the car to do it. |

Some update pics. Ordered the guages and stereo head unit and have been working on the dash and console. Got the AC condenser mounted along with the air to water intercooler radiator mounted. Got some fab work done on the rear seats . Had to rework the front seat crossbars for the new seats I'm going with. Worked on the clutch and brake pedal geometry and have them all setup. Still have to fab the throttle pedal. Fuel cell is made and mounted but still have to layout the lines.

Looks great, Gary!

Thanks Trey.
Had to push the Torino into the corner of the shop. Gotta hold up my end of some trade work and work on a friends car. Still working on some small stuff for it though and will post some more pics soon. |

Some of the pieces coming together.
All the switches are momentary and some will operate self latching relays for thier function. There will be backlighting around the switch in the recessed opening. The taillights are non sequential LED . The taillight housing still needs to be polished and have the center section blacked out. |
The car looks great, nice work on all the glass work.
|
Excellent! Could you share more about the custom engraved switch panel?
|
Not sure how I missed this build. Now caught up on reading entire thread!
Looking fantastic! Love the dare to be different v-10 |
Thanks everyone. What would you like to know about the switch panel Goosedad?
|
Very nice custom pieces...
|
Coming along great Gary. What seats are those you're using up front they look darn comfortable...
|
Thanks everyone for the compliments.
Dave , the seats are from a 2019 BRZ. They do fit me well but will have to be recovered with to match the interior finish. |

Goosedad....
The switches snap into rectangle holes in a 18 ga steel mount panel. The face plate is 1/8 aluminum and the oval holes and lettering were milled in on a CNC machine by a friend of mine. The face plate and the mount panel are spaced apart by .200" and between them is a LED dimmable light strip. The light glows up through the oval gap around the switch. The aluminum face plate is flat and is anodized. I decided not to backlight the lettering and keep the dash more simple. |

Hi all.
Yes I'm still here. Pulled the car out of the corner of the shop 2 weeks ago. Been mostly planning door panels and plumbing and figuring out all that little stuff that needs to be done. Ordered a set of sport mirrors off Ebay. Figured my parts list for the AC lines and intercooler lines. So ....no pics of anything on my car.. but how about a pic of my friends tpye 65 coupe I was working on. |
I am good with this pic as it is beautiful.

Daytona Coupe
The paint looks great on the Daytona Coupe. Is that the Factory Five body? It's my #1 car by far.Great lines...feel free to post more shouts of the coupe
|
Yeah, those are great looking cars. I'd much rather have one than a Cobra replica. I've never been a convertible or roadster person though.
Glad you're making progress on your Torino, too. |

Got the stock manual window cranks converted to power. Cut the stock manual crank gear and clutch off the mechanism, Then fabbed some brackets to mount the motors. On the rear 1/4 windows I had to re index the arm to drop the motor for glass clearance. On the doors I just needed to cut some of the door frame for motor clearance. Gave all the parts a glass beading to clean them up and fixed the cracks in the tracks. Put a little rattle can rebuild on the pieces. Need to order some track guides and they are ready to go. Will pack them up for assembly day for now.
|
Thanks ,,,Yes , that is a Factory Five Daytona coupe Type 65 kit. My friend was in over her head on the assembly part. Its powered by a Gen 3 Coyote. When its finished being polished I will post a pic.
|
Looking good Gary , power windows will be nice!
BTW I have a PDF showing window adjustments on Torino/Fairlane. If you would like a copy PM me your email. Joe |
