^^^^^^^^^^^ Funny! I was thinking a Schwinn with ape hangers and banana seat!

Found the weight & balance paperwork for the car.... 3015 lbs.... so HP to weight ratio is pretty good.

awesome Greg. Congrats on the new toy. Glad you are having fun. You will be changing out the 7000 chip before you know it.

Thanks Jay!

As Charley pointed out to me several times during the weekend -- "if you want them to last a little while.... you can't run 'em like a race car" or some such sage words of advice.

These are just "track days" -- and you really have to get your head into that versus "all out race I want to win at any cost"....

Having said that -- it's darn hard not to want to drive 'em a little faster - brake a little later - corner a little harder... It's that dang Tasmanian Devil on your shoulder! :D

Sieg 10-26-2011 04:20 PM

Glad to see you picked it up Greg.

Hopefully you have plans to take her to Oregon Raceway Park.

Impressive dyno sheet! Charlie did a darn good job of under-promise over-deliver. Nice to see him taking care of those less fortunate.

Basics that I know about...

Ford 302R block (racing block)
Eagle forged crank
J&E 12.5:1 forged pistons
Oliver rods
Edelbrock Victor/Mark Chapman heads
Titanium valves - locks - retainers
Solid roller cam - .650 lift... 258/[email protected] - 108 LSA
Victor intake/holley carb
Bored and Stroked to 355"

My SBC 408 - has a very light rotating assembly (Honda rod journal size - Gun Drilled Crank) and rev's smoking fast.... but this little SBF rev's faster than anything I've ever owned.

clill 10-27-2011 01:36 PM

You also have a set of custom tuned stainless headers that were over 5K.

Killer setup. Wonder what the bore / stroke is? Charley?

Sorry -- forgot to post that....

Bore is 4.082"

Stroke is 3.40"

Oliver rod is 5.400"

Flash68 10-27-2011 08:09 PM

wow didn't think I'd be envious of a shorter stroke around here. :D

Yeah -- When Tony Jr. gave me that number on the phone -- I had to swallow and ask again... thinking I heard wrong. Kind of explains that quick rev I like so much.... well... that and maybe some help from 12:5 CR... and a little 110 octane... :hail: :hail:

Vegas69 10-28-2011 07:06 AM

Kinda makes sense that Weld would have the shortest stroke....

Any idea what the output numbers look like?

C'mon Greg, you're slipping. Don't take that. Short stroke, LONG ROD! That's the proper response. :unibrow:

I somehow skipped that page.

498/590. Impressive. I may have to store this as a recipe for a later build.

You had the pleasure and you did one heck of a great job!

I L O V E the car!

Can you PM me --- or email me so we can chat a little on some of the details and history etc??

Charley has my email... or you can use the members thing here to contact me directly.

Jack Maurer 11-02-2011 01:31 PM

call me anytime 949 485-8619 or email at [email protected].
I gave Charlie all the invoices and build information, but I can give you the full history and sources for the entire build; somewhere I have the title, which I will certainly give to you.

GregWeld 11-03-2011 05:06 PM

Thanks Jack --- I will touch base after I get home from SEMA....

Greg,

I just found this thread and have read it all tonight. Great purchase! Have fun with it. Maybe next year I will come up with a few friends and meet up with you at Thunderhill. I ran that track for the first time a few months ago and I loved it.

I already asked Greg if he was free, and he is not, but I am headed to Thunderhill Jan 23 if you wanted to meet up Brian. It's with NCRC. I plan on getting to know that track a bit in 2012.

If it doesn't rain I should be there also.

Hey Brian --- I'd love to follow you around the track any time!

The car is a hoot! I got better and better as the event went on -- and started to pay attention to the line - and all the things you FORGET when you first get in the car...

I signed Gwen (wife) up for driving school @ Bondurant for our 32nd anniversary gift (Tomorrow)... and myself for their Grand Prix school. That should help me pick up my lap times. Remember when I asked you what times you ran? You were way faster on 200 tw tires than I was on Hosier R6's! So I have some learning to do (and some seat time)! :wow:

I will be at Disneyland with the family that weekend. Please let me know the next one you do.

Once you are comfortable with the track and car, you will right there. I have been to Thunderhill only once, and I am eager to go back. I hope to go a few times in 2012 and see you there.

Greg - Hopefully Brian will be nice and run a pace that allows you to learn the lines. :D

What really helped me the first time at T-Hill was the five of us taking an evening track walk discussing lines, braking and acceleration references.

Well I L O V E Thunderhill.... the track is just a hoot to drive.

Dave -- What event is Jan 23rd?? I need to move the car and trailer down closer to Texas - and that might be just the excuse I need to spot it a few hundred miles closer... LOL

Charley was going to offer me FREE INDOOR PARKING - forever - in one of his giant buildings.... :woot:
