Hope Tony is doing well and perhaps made some progress on his car
|
I kind of wondered if he gave up on the car after everything that's happened. It's a shame. I really expected Tony's car to be a player in the Pro-Touring scene after it was redone.

Update!!!!!
Hi Guys! It's been a long time since I update this thread. Mostly because I haven't had anything to really show. LOL
Since the last update my life has changed a bit. A few years ago I decided it was time to start my own construction business. I've been in the trades for over 20 years at this point and was ready to roll the dice with my own shop. This has taken ALL my time and ALL my resources. After a few hard years I'm finally getting to the point that I have some free time...not a lot but I will take what I can get! 14 hour days 7 days a week got really old. You small business owners know what I'm talking about! Obviously the Camaro had to sit in the corner while I built up the business and spent time with my family. It's all about balance and usually something has to wait. So there ya go, my last few years in nut shell. Moving forward I have been busy working on the car as of late! I came up with a final plan of attack and put it into action. I decided to start at the front as it was going to take the most effort to get all the parts to fit well. Boy was I right! Many many days spent on the front of the car! I purchased a new valance, grill w/trim, headlight buckets, headlight mounts and bezels. Getting all these new parts to fit OE and Repop panels was a job. I'm very happy to say everything 'fits' now. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...8/IMG_0033.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...8/IMG_0032.jpg |
Next up was the hood. I had problems getting the hood open when it came back home so I knew I needed to address that before I got any further. I just couldn't get the latch to work so I ordered a new one and all is good now! I added my DSE SS hood latch kit and it's all fancy looking now.
With that done I could finalize the fit of the hood. Everything looked great except the hood to cowl panel on the driver's side. So after a lot of planning I decided to get to work on it. All good now! http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...8/IMG_0058.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...8/IMG_0066.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...8/IMG_0069.jpg |
This weekend I worked on door gaps. They were a little tight in spots at the door to quarter. The bottom and fender gaps are ok. So I got to work on them. I'm pleased with them now.

A) No one can call you a quitter!
B) Way to stay in the fight man. Little bit everyday. C) You're a brave man to cut into the hood like that. Be honest, you closed you took a deep breath and cringed a little. |
Next up, as I move from front to back, is the deck lid gaps. I know of one corner spot that's tight but I need to finalize the mounting location of the lid to the car before I will know if there's more than the one spot to work. It's close though as it sits and that makes me happy!
After that I will fill all the unused holes in the inner fenders and I think that will be it for metal work on the panels! I do plan on working on the mechanics of the car this spring. I really want to hear this motor make some noise! Been waiting too long! http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...d%20mockup.jpg As it sits now. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...8/IMG_0222.jpg |

Hi Tony
Hi Mate !!! Good to see you're back updating your build thread again, I know exactly what you mean about the reproduction grille and headlight bezels, went through that myself the weekend before Christmas, looking Awesome but Tony. Cheers Trevor.

Tony the gaps looks real good. I can also feel your pain about the grill stuff. I fought like hell with my RS front end. It felt like it fought me the whole way. It's these small battle wins that get me through my build. Glad to hear your business is taking off as I knew it would cause your a straight up guy!! Keep the updates coming!

Thanks guys! Working on it when I can! I try to do something every day even if it's just getting materials or doing some planning of what's next. It all helps.
