I am painting about everything but final paint in my home garage,I have access to a couple good paint booths, very lucky, you can drop your car off anytime but it may be stuck in paint jail for a while.

b757jetdr 06-18-2013 08:34 PM

Very nice Jeff! Hey this might be stupid question but I assume that the red on the whole shell exterior right now is a color primer? Looking forward to seeing this come together.

Chris

Hey Chris there is no stupid questions,it is actually the basecoat,I am going to block it with 600 and put a couple more coats on when painting car,it really shows how straight the car is or if I missed anything, really happy with the results so far

Rick D 06-19-2013 04:18 AM

There you go Jeff nice work! Are you going to paint it apart or together? Just wondering as I always paint solid colors apart and pearls and metalics together? Well I should clarify I paint the front ends off the car, I alway put the doors on if the bolts for the hinges are stock and getting painted. This way you do not crush the paint with a socket.

Hey Rick I like to paint it apart,I dont like any tape lines anywhere, your right metalics are alot harder to do this.

Things are looking good there .... that quartering away really shows the attention to the body work, nice job!!!!

I really like the red in a flat state, been seeing more and more Lexus' and BMW's in a flat clear and they look sharp, I am thinking of a flat ...... (fill in the color later). Hugger Orange?

tubbed69 06-21-2013 06:36 PM

Great so far, I've been tied up last month or so with a business and family move so not much time for the car. I will post an update hopefully soon.

BTW love the re-sale red paint ;)

Ok I've used the Dupli-Color before. For resto work it matches the GM car very nicely, but always spray my flat or low gloss clear as it would smooth it out better.

Jeff
The car is coming along great!
