I have taken a different view of taking your car to the track with a truck and trailer now----I would rather drive the car to the track or course--but it's a pain to have it towed 200+ miles on a flatbed.

Time to get the truck back in shape----geez, mo expenditures.

That Texarkana Silverado special has been paid for since 1999. If it blows up on the grapevine, leave it for dead and you are still ahead of the game.

I don't care where its made as much as where the profits go.

I'm new to all this track stuff.... and just finished the Bondurant 4 day Grand Prix course (I've taken others as well)...

Their big track configuration is 1.6 miles and 15 turns.... I was running that in 1.16

I have no idea what that means or how it compares. Do you?

Vegas69 03-24-2012 08:20 AM

Back to your regular scheduled program.

What will be the fastest time this year in our group? Last year it was a 2:14.1

I'm thinking 2:10-2:12.

Here's the track configuration and a Porsche running a 2:11 lap.

DFRESH 03-24-2012 09:04 AM

Todd, you reminded me of the other purchase I would like to make before this event, a Go Pro-----

Any suggestions on which model and which accessories? Is everybody using the same model?

Doug I've been looking at these and I think the GoPro Hero 2 looks like the winner. A buddy of mine uses one when he rides dirt bikes and the video quality is very impressive. It's a pretty hardy to boot. He's had some epic crashes and get offs.

I think that means you're about as fast as you are tall.

I remember an instructor saying fast drivers were under 1 minute, average drivers were around 1 minute, and slow drivers were in the 1:10 plus range. You sure that time of yours is right?

I didn't think they timed you over there. When I get out there I'll have to see what I run. The pressure is on. I need to do better than 1:16 now. If not, you have the right to joke about me moving as quickly as Bob Bondurant's old dog.

Just because we outsource almost everything in the US now days does not mean, It's Ok to just buy one more thing. The profits still serve another country beyond our own.

I'm sure my Toyota would handle everything I threw at it too if I was paid to say that in a commercial.

I'm really just rubbing Todd, But I also would never consider buying a Toyota Tundra. I live in the pick up truck capital of the world and The Toyota is the truck most prefered by soccer dad's. Farmers and oil guys still by Chevy and Ford. I had the worst pile of Ford Diesel for 5 years and would not have traded it for a Toyota, really.

As Curtis said, the Hero 2 is supposedly bad ass, but the video GW posted awhile back of his Banana Mustang using his Contour was very nice as well.

I'm also willing to host the Saturday night pool party at my house. We The pool is not done yet but September is a long time away. According to Google maps my house is 33 miles from the track. There is a nice Hampton Inn (Spectrum Way) on the north end of town right near my shop that is a very nice place to stay and a straight shot out the track.

This picture is from January 2012.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...IMAG0038-3.jpg

Summer will be over but I bet the pool will still be somewhat warm.

Vegas69 03-24-2012 10:42 AM

I've been less than happy with my Go Pro Hero HD. The battery life is a joke and it malfunctions all the time. I'd go for a different brand. The video quality is pretty good it's just screwed me out of to many good laps on camera.

Greg, based on my fuzzy math, you could be a contender. :unibrow: You aren't going to have 4 days to perfect it though. :D

Rodger, can I come? ha ha

As long as they're a curly Q slide going in, I am there!

And is the house close enough so I can do a Ron Burgundy cannon ball from the roof?

No slide but plenty of rocks for you to bang your head on.

You could run from the roof but it's a good 40ft from the house to the pool. But I think you could make it.

As Todd said the HD GoPro is not so great. I have had the 1st gen reg GoPro sports Hero for years and it works great. Been on every kind of race car and held up..JMOHO

No idea... the only thing I would have to compare would be Willow Springs is 1.8 miles and my best there was 1:28 on street tires. 1 day of course vs your 4 days. :D

Just bring that RACE car out and show us all how to drive... :lateral:

Completely understand your position, just tossing a little ammo Todd's way in the joust. :D

Disclosure - Family farm has Ford and John Deere.

Nice pool!

Ok, this is good insider information. I read it as the new 2:14 is a 2:10, and that means I will shoot for a 2:09, and someone will tell me that I ran a 2:14 only. Then the rules will change, and I will know that I ran something between a 2:10 and a 2:14..... That's good right? I can live with that..... It means I'm still pretty fast right....?

That's all I need to know.:D

Thanks for catching that Chad, CW 1 goes one loop further. Wonder how much more time for that loop. My guess would be around 7 seconds.

I was curious so checked out that driver of the Carrera and he runs pretty often and has some class wins apparently, so apparently 2:11 ain't a bad lap at BW. His best lap at Streets of Willow a few years ago was 1:31 -- I was 1:28 on street tires -- so I revise my goal for BW down to 2:08. :D
