Wheel/tire sizes for this one?

I知 still debating that. I知 package protected up to a 285 front and a 345 rear. I need to evaluate the current 200 tread wear tires that are out now and determine which ones are the best for all events.

They bolt on so I知 not worried about it.

They could change a few times prior to SEMA.

This is already an awesome build. I feel like a junkie waiting for another fix. I look forward to every update. But in the meantime, I'll read your Building the Mule book....again! Best money spent. Love it.

I figured there might be some strategy behind sizing on this project based on what was learned from the recent builds (Jackass & Red Devil). The whole 69 vs. 67 spacial constraints within the wheel-wells had me wondering.

Since this one is a 67 like RedWitch, I was curious if we might see something different because of the different suspension configuration.

You're one of the few that can get away with tagging Mark's car.

I like it. :unibrow:

I had Griffin build me a custom radiator and an intercooler for this build. I had a similar one in Red Devil and it worked great.

My dad and I have been hitting it hard on Marks car non-stop since we got it. As well as trying to stay up on other shop projects. The car is Moving along very good. The whole body is ready to be finish sanded and painted. All panels fit awesome as well as the new hood Mark brought over! I blew the whole car apart last week in order to bodywork the firewall and smooth up the floor pans a little bit. I currently have the car flipped over on the rotisserie right now and have the floor pan about ready to spray. I will get some up to date pictures posted up this weekend. But here are some from last week before I blew the car apart.
I will try and post up pictures more often as we are getting closer to the part everyone wants to see, Paint!

Now off to the garage to work on my car! :willy:

Air extractors in the hood....who would have ever thought :unibrow:

Jr 06-07-2012 04:06 PM

Is that hood fiber glass or carbon fiber?

Sieg 06-07-2012 04:24 PM

My guess is Anvil 010001

67-69 CAMARO COWL INDUCTION BARE HOOD C
GLOSSY FINISH
LIGHT WEIGHT "BARE" HOOD 100% CARBON FIBER WITH NO MIDDLE UNDERSTRUCTURE (PERIMETER FRAME) 17 LBS.

It is actually a Stielow Engineering 002-V

Carbon Fiber 14 lbs

It is a top and bottom mold to make the top and bottom Class -A surfaces

I noticed the back seat divider gone, weight savings?

Mark,

The new hood looks killer.

BonzoHansen 06-07-2012 07:55 PM

So no vent windows? :(

I hope that old red one gets driven. it's too awesome to sit in a garage like a coffee table

GRob 06-07-2012 09:02 PM

I think that hood needs to be put into production.

I think he just has the vent windows out for paint. He sold the red car.

My carbon fiber guy said it was 14 lbs with the carbon fiber inserts. I did these molds 5 -6 years ago for a hood on Red Witch. I think I made three. Scott Gulbranson has one and I'm not sure where the third went. I modified it a little and added the vents out the hood.

As far as selling them I'm not sure anyone would spend what one of these cost. I would need to sell a copy for $3000 each to break even. My Carbon Fiber guy said he had 150 hours in this one.

They are a true carbon fiber hood that doesn't need hood pins. It is made in Canada not overseas. It is made off a top and bottom mold then glues together with a thin spacing material to add stiffness. The bottom is class A surfaced Carbon Fiber.

If you gotta have one drop me a line. But don稚 get sticker shock when I tell you the price.

The car is turning out great. Paul and Joe are doing a great and quick job. I always enjoy going to their shop they are fun to work with.

I thought the same thing but can you do that without adding in a new lateral support? A cross brace would look cool but not sure how much weight would have been saved.

Mark,

Even 'Anonymous' hasn't been able to hack your emails and post the color yet. Your security measures are very impressive.

Not that I'm right, but I think I remember that Mark is partially color blind and blue is one color that he does not see as we do. I'm going out on a limb and say red.No matter what color it will be awesome!

Travis

Roberts68 06-09-2012 05:40 AM

I'm betting he won't but my vote is for a metallic dark gray/gunmetal/charcoal/anthracite black and leave the carbon.
I'm really not "betting", I know he won't do it.
He doesn't "need" to showcase a one off hood like some of us would feel the need to.

Jay Hilliard 06-09-2012 05:43 AM

Jetstream blue would look amazing. I wonder how a dark green something like the ralley green would look.

There are some off whites that look good also. Picking color is the hardest to me but when you build as many nice cars as Mark has built you can go through the color spectrum and any color looks awesome.

Not in the market right now but that price seems reasonable for what you are getting.

Well, on the 67 Camaro's, I seem to like the original colors of the Camaro's the best. You can get them with clear coat. We used on my 67 RM paint with Rubberseale Clear. I didn't like the stock marina blue, so had a custom mix made. Actually, here is my vote, but it is based on a 67 RS Z28. http://www.67z28.com/history.htm I would also recommend to convert to RS grill to increase the airflow for the heat exchanger for the intercooler.

Just my opinion..

Have you ever considered polycarbonate in place of some of the glass to save weight? I was looking at a site that said it was 250 times stronger and 1/2 the weight. I saw it in another build somewhere and was wondering about it myself.

Sales@Dutchboys 06-28-2012 07:20 PM

A little slow for updates but its not because of no progress on the car! My dad and I have been at it hard on the 67' non stop. We got the car in the booth last week and final sealed the car. And painted the floor pan and firewall the other day. Along with some misc parts and the frame!
We should start bolting the car together first part of next week and getting it ready to go in the booth for paint!

Ill have some more pictures up this weekend. But for now...
