Greg..when they say "smile for the camera" that does not mean to "rip" one on your buddy next to ya man.. Also..I seen you on the TV lately doing a interview with Ted Jones with your little Red 32. I do Gotta say you were looking darn good and holding down the coolness with style..great job man! -Jim |
Ah.... Jim you must have seen the one where I barely had gotten out of the car and this guy is shoving a mic in my face and asking questions....
Didn't know it was on TV -- the guy never did identify himself - or if he did - I didn't pay any attention. |

So after spending 16 months working weekends on my Brother in Laws Camaro.... Doing everything we possibly can to protect the paint... he get's it home for a whopping 2 weeks and gets into a minor fender bender.
So.... that old "while we're at it we might as well do....." Kicks in and the car gets a FULL paint job. The insurance company was pretty good to work with he said... it even got a NOS front fender - passenger door got reskined... and then 300 hours later it's painted. On the 15th it goes in to the upholstery shop -- and then I'm finally DONE with it. :D http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...o/file-132.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...o/file-133.jpg |
I wish i was youir brother inlaw too.
Sweet ride.. |

HAHAHAHAHA..... get in line! |
Who's doing the upholstery?
|
Dan's Auto Upholstery in Portland Oregon. He's been doing all the "local" high end builds. Since it's not my car - I don't get to make those decisions. I visited the shop the other day -- his work look more than respectable.

Great work Greg, and a commendable giver you are!! .......the banter displayed in this thread is what keeps me coming back to lat-g. There is so much "Like" for you from your "friends" LOL :unibrow: |

Yeah -- they just can't help themselves... |

Dont go giving him a bigger head than he already has. |
Well... this little "let's replace the front end bushings" project is just about complete. You may recall that Rudy has a small mishap with a Honda about two weeks after getting his car back.... which evolved into a complete paint job -- which in turn -- led to a complete interior. Today I got a pic of the door panel so that means it's got to be just about done!
A little bump..... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...o/file-131.jpg And then the "as long as we're here" starts.... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...o/file-138.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...o/file-140.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...o/file-141.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...o/file-142.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...o/file-143.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...o/file-144.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...o/file-145.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...o/file-146.jpg This is a bad photo -- but the "inserts" are perforated. And there's a strip of carpet on the bottom of the door and the raised area is perforated. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...o/file-147.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...o/file-148.jpg |
That looks great Greg. Bet he's happy!
|
I dig those door panels. They look...dare I say it... Mustangish.

Happy is way under where they're at.... I am happy for them. They absolutely love their car... and it needed some serious help. Now they have a safe, great running and fun driver they can enjoy. Plus -- I won't be embarrassed to be parked next to 'em. :D Quote:
Oh yeah.... I'll tell him that.... repeatedly!  This is no Tracy Weaver job -- or Sid Chavers etc -- but it's really nice work - very solid looking in person. I think the '57 Pierre just bought from Ironworks might end up here. The guy does real nice structure... and it's plenty good enough (dare I say it) for this kind of build. It's not over the top OMG... but it's way friggin' better than some so called custom interiors I've seen. The headliner - which is just too hard to get a pic of - is just over the top. He used some kind of fabric - and it's absolutely perfect. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...o/file-149.jpg Quote:
Thanks! As stated above - I think Dan has done a real nice job. The car had standard Camaro vinyl interior in it... and we all know those seats were bad from the factory -- so this kinda started when I got him some Recaro's... and then the rest of the car was turning out so nice I told him just to find a decent upholstery shop in Portland and get it done. Dan even took apart the Recaro's and put the perforated in the centers. Really changed the look of them! |
Grey, it's come a long ways since I saw it in your shop. Looks great, these are good things you do. Life is all about family. Car looks sweeeeeet.

Greg, what's SAR's hourly rate? Subtract $20 from that and there's your rate for your home business "Shedworks, LLC"
:poke: |
Quote:
Well -- SAR should be FREE because when you get done you have to pay someone else to make a car out of it... My work is free PLUS I pay for all the parts... |

Rudy's car looks great. Tell Pierre to put some of that energy into finishing his shed and starting a build thread. He isn't getting any younger.:D |
Quote:
He stayed up the first night we unloaded it and polished the entire car.... Pulled the headlights 'cause the rubber trim was on backwards... cleaned out the entire interior so it's now dust free. I hope I have half his energy when I'm 74!! I don't do Fords.... had my '32 built - having my '33 built - Jack M built the '65 Mustang... so that leaves my '37 and other than let it go to pot - I haven't touched it. The Nomad has been rebuilt 3 times.... :D |

I figured I'd bring one of the Vettes up there. :action-smiley-027: |
I got a chance to see the finished camaro yesterday. It even stopped raining a bit for me to get a ride in it.
The car turned out really nice, the car drives great a real comfortable ride, even over a set of railroad tracks. Rudy got on it a-bit and the car really plants you in the seat it took off like a rocket. The car turned out great and its a completly different car than it was before. Good job on Mr. Welds part. |

I hope it lasts him a few years! Was fun to see ya - glad you liked the results! |
Hey Mods -- shouldn't this be moved to the GARAGE BUILT section??
|
Quote:
|
Sure Curtis...... it just probably shouldn't be in the new members introductions... LOL
|
Where did you acquire that fuse box from Greg?
Great build BTW!!!! |
Quote:
:thankyou: And the box and wiring was a Hiway 22 kit from American Autowire. |

Grey, any idea what these interior guys use to get that bevel that's on the interior door panel around the insert? Turned out good, nice work there.
|
It looks nice, Rudy's all set now!

NO IDEA -- some hard shapeable foam would be my guess. Quote:
