Hey ya'll,
I got some more updates today. Been doing some more metal work and created some custom inner fender wells. Also finishing up the firewall. I've also been having some more metal working fun on the hood inserts. Originally these pieces were plastic, but I think metal looks better. Should be getting the chassis back from powder coat soon. http://i.imgur.com/v3nIx1zh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/nyI2FE5h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Cu8LeJPh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/AF53zCFh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/tuCFETHh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ytzBPYSh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/oXA5QoMh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/US51QYRh.jpg |
Looking great, the inners clean up the compartment fer sure.
Man I wished someone made the TA hood for the Camaro, I'd be all over that. Keep us posted ... |
Nice fab work. The inner fenders look very nice. Have to agree that seeing the hood scoops in metal looks better and has more presence than plastic. This will be a very cool bird when done.
Rod in HB |
always been curious how a 69 Trans Am hood would look like on a 67-68

Hey ya'll,
Just got the chassis back from powder coat. We painted it the same color as the Forgeline wheels. I think it looks great. Here are the wheels: http://i.imgur.com/BRshieUh.jpg Here is the AMS chassis: http://i.imgur.com/xPUOa2Vh.jpg I also added a removable cross-member so we can service the transmission without having to pull the engine. http://i.imgur.com/YwZaRM2h.jpg I really like the finish on the frame and rear end. http://i.imgur.com/09YarDih.jpg http://i.imgur.com/tDjIQBnh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/WKNEYJSh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wdjaX7kh.jpg I also painted the LSX454 and ATS oil pan to match the frame. Should look pretty good when all assembled. http://i.imgur.com/7PBlKxoh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/phRSGoHh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/NYItXkCh.jpg Right now I'm working on the custom bumpers per Ben's design. Going to recess the bumpers into the body of the car to give it a more sleek and polished look. |
The frame looks great, the rear looks like its still wet. Painting the engine will connect it all together. Nice work..
|
Very nice!!!!! Love the color comb for the frame and engine.
|
Hey ya'll,
I have another update. Been working on the recessed bumpers to give it more of a sleek look. Bumper is shortened 2" and narrowed 1". http://i.imgur.com/c5KGG39h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/EuKS5azh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/IrzVMICh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/rdRMw8lh.jpg |
I like the color choice on the engine and frame, Eugene. Rear bumper's looking good, too. Keep it up!
|
Do you have any photos of how you are going to run the exhaust to the rear? Over the top of the rear end or below it? Also, are you going to run an X-pipe set up connecting the two sides of the exhaust? Thanks.

Hey ya'll,
Today I have some really exciting updates. The car is really starting to come together nicely. Just finished spraying primer on the firewall and underside of the car: http://i.imgur.com/pcOmvMUh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/RpHHNC4h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/0CtEnlbh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/aJU0eKmh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/da83Upfh.jpg I'm really happy with the way the rear end came out. The custom pedestal/ducktail hybrid spoiler and recessed bumper really make it pop. http://i.imgur.com/vHvfNphh.jpg One of the challenges we had is that in order for it to "look right," we had to move the gas lid up over 1" so that it's vertically centered between the trunk and bumper. http://i.imgur.com/R8pMlnlh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/bWoo1ebh.jpg Here is a really great profile shot: http://i.imgur.com/zucDU8Dh.jpg I also did a lot of work on the exhaust cutouts. I added a nice contour that fit the new style and stance of the car: http://i.imgur.com/PSrdTzAh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/aOsoICzh.jpg And finally I have completed the metal work on the 69 Trans Am hood: http://i.imgur.com/0nEj5lnh.jpg I think the steel hood inserts give the car a more aggressive and consistent look when compared to the factory. |

Metal work is Awesome
Love all your metal work on this bird!!!

Hey ya'll,
I got some exciting updates for today. I was able to get the engine all dressed up and mounted in the chassis. I also installed the suspension and brakes. I made a special conduit through the driver's side of the chassis to run all of the gas and brake lines. This way nothing hangs below the chassis and looks nice and clean. Also mounted a remote oil filter up front. http://i.imgur.com/VaiANMrh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/hgB72VTh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/9W0a0H1h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/YFP7HGeh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Hnj84AMh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wM3oZBAh.jpg |
Hey ya'll,

Man, you're making some serious strides! Always nice when you start seeing colors on the finished product. Keep up the good work!

Hey ya'll,
Just put a first coat of primer on the body and trying to wrap up the body work. Here's a few pictures for you. http://i.imgur.com/rwpB8sCh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/FdL9YgLh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qeK7Vz3h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/PMlYUeZh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/T9R0aY1h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/q1fBRVKh.jpg |

I really like this build.  |
Hey ya'll,
It's been a while since my last update. I thought I would post some more teasers before the holidays. http://i.imgur.com/qF10mjkh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/xjBeb5nh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/q6Fvh37h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ZLpkgEQh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ub3YTRmh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/AWRlMj9h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/uO6OsNmh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Q7DJQV9h.jpg |

Hey ya'll,
Have some more updates. We've been working on the final body work and getting everything straight as an arrow. Going to paint next week. We have some good PPG tri-stage picked out that should look great. Also while the body was back on the chassis, I wanted to snap a couple of pictures to share. http://i.imgur.com/DqrzCsOh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/y1pAHKmh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/oMm4U75h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/02dFjIph.jpg http://i.imgur.com/VwfM7hih.jpg http://i.imgur.com/AuKR0jPh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/yVzejmgh.jpg |

I never have liked new car consoles in classic cars, but this might be the perfect choice since the new camaros are retro styled after the 1st gen Fbody very interested to see how it will look |
Well done Eugene!
