Rendering - Yes

Sharp colors. Thought I read somewhere that you have to get Bentley paint from them. That being said, I tend towards reds myself. For stripes I prefer not to see the Z28 stripes anymore than I have to. There are to many cars out there badged as Z28's that are fake. Tribute/clone/whatever they end up looking ridiculous when nearly 80% of the cars I see have them. Back in the day there weren't that many Camaro's built by the factor, so it was a cool custom factory look.

How about something that starts on the front of the car, goes across the nose, then down the middle of the car to the rear wheel opening. Have it be two stripes (a gap between them at the front of the car (somewhat like Stielow's XV) but instead of down the center of the car you take them across and down the middle of the car. Possibly have the stripe down the side have breaks in the stripe like Steve Chrysos car.

Use something that compliments your image for the car.

Just some random thoughts, I'm sure you already have some great ideas of your own.

Curtis, you need to slow down. You will have the build done in record time:thumbsup:

No slowing down!!
Full speed ahead!!
I have been helping Curtis gather parts and making a build & sell off list for quite a few months now ( even before he bought this car
As he said, he is impatient and if I had the choice of having a shop open fulltime, it would be getting done faster, but correctly!

As soon as it is Russ is done with the rear clip, then paint, all the rest of the mods and systems are going in it!

I finished the engine build, T56 build is complete, we already sourced the vast majority of parts needed for plumbing, electrical and hydraulic systems

Going to start on the Gen 5 console mods and 4 gauge pod shifter bezels ( going to do a few more than just the one for Curtis, like in my car, to sell to other members , now running a Gen 5 console like I am in my 68'.

Interesting rendering

LOL - very patriotic - Red, White, and Blue

That's close to what I was trying to describe but I was thinking of a gap in the stripe in the center of the vehicle like M Stielow has on XV. That way it wouldn't look completely traditional. The some breaks in the striping down the center of the vehicle. Something to imply motion even when it's sitting still.

But I wish I had an ounce of skill to draw like that.

I just think silver is not the way to go, as to me it's been done to death IMO.

Paint it the color you want. This is an instance where opinions from others are of very little value.

I'd beat it up for a few years if it was mine. :D

Hey Curtis!

Great to see you got a car and cruising right along at mach 0.80 !!! Looks like you have a sweet pile of parts there and keeping the :ups: man busy, thanks!!!! LOL As far as paint color that was probably the hardest decision I made with wheel style and finish next! Looks like your in some capable hands!

Also off topic hear but, UPS is hiring pilots 40 to start and hearing might be headed up to 150! Also maybe up to 20 to 25 more 747's getting added to the fleet!
I will give you a shout here in a day or two if your gonna be around.

NO...You're not my supervisor!! I have limited time before heading back to work so we are charging at the moment. My goal is to have it 100% ready for paint, waiting it's turn. Once we hit that stage things will come to a halt on this car for a few.

It's easy to go to far IMO. My goal is to hold true to the original and be trend proof. While I greatly appreciate the modern suspension and engine in these cars, I also love the classic paint layouts and interior...to a point. What color hasn't been over done? I love the burn orange, similar to what's on Bad Penny just as much as I do the Silver on Mayhem. Sooner or later the car will let me know.

Pretty sure I paid enough in shipping to cover the cost of the new 74's. I suppose if you really needed me, I could fly one of those 747F's around for ya.

HBRod 08-01-2014 09:58 AM

Color choice

You're right that some colors have been done to death. Then there are color's like Matt's that are pretty rare. But I definitely agree with the sentiment that you should paint it the color you want. After all, you're the one that's going to have to live with it for years given the cost of a re-paint. I like that most everyone on here chose's a color that they like regardless of what others may think. And the color usually ends up looking great on the finished car. So yes, let the car tell you what it wants.

Curtis-

Glad to see you in another ride and very happy to see some of my former Vegas crew still active and helping. Jeff, Russ, and Todd have been a great help when I was there and I know it's nice to have the support.

All the best.

Tyler my friend, it is great to hear from you. Been a lot of talk about our days hanging out at ATS recently. Good times. I learned a lot from you when we upgraded the Bucket and much of that has carried forward into this build. Jeff still runs an ATS sticker in his rear window FYI.

Let me know next time you are in Vegas.

Realized I needed a Fire Wall Bracket, so I grabbed Laurie and made a run to the parts store. A.K.A. Speedtech. It was a nice drive up to St. George and a good excuse to have lunch with Blake. Not a bad day. Of course we had to grab a few of their new T-shirts while there. It's always nice to see what they have in the shop and I have to say, there are some sick builds happening threre right now.

The bulk of the parts that came off the car went to their new owner today. Nice to have my garage back! Should be a fairly straight forward and simple way for him to get his 68 up and running in no time.

I'm still trying to figure out why I had to pay you to clean out your garage?

Glad we able to get together this weekend and pick it all up! Dinner with you and Laurie was great also. Enjoyed your company. Nice checking out your stock pile of parts awaiting the "Victim"! Look forward to seeing it come together.

So demanding! I know it's been an entire four days!

Small update. Russ has the frame rails out and is just about ready to install the 4 bar. Hope he will be onto the mini-tubs soon. Gotta get it home, strip a few remaining things off the car and pop the glass before hauling it to the painter.

The easy answer....Balance. After adding everything up and weighing it all, it was what fit my overall goal the best.

CraigMorrison 08-07-2014 07:43 AM

Looking good! Russ is making some great progress.

WAIT A GOSH DARN MINUTE HERE......CURTIS BOUGHT A CAR? HOW COULD I NOT KNOW THIS!!!!! Oh wait...no, I totally know. I'm the one lugging in all those damn boxes being delivered every day by the UPS and FEDex guys. Neighbors are going to start talking thinking I'm having an affair with one or all of those delivery guys. Hell, even Steve & Kevin don't bark at them anymore since they are here so often.

Not even close! Came home today from helping the neighbor replace his water heater and found her cleaning her P226 and 1911. Awesome on so many levels.

True words. Interesting choices - P226 and a 1911. Both are fine pieces of hardware so it confirms she has good taste in handguns and husbands.

Spiffav8 08-21-2014 11:30 PM

Things are progressing...slowly, but it's worth it. Russ has the rear frame in place and should have it finished up shortly. Not a lot of rush at the moment as I am in line for paint and body. Good thing....I still haven't nailed down a color.

Curtis, are you doing mini-tubs? I looked at the pictures and couldn't tell. Thought you said that they were in the plan. Definitely stronger rear frame setup than what was originally supplied by Chevrolet. Good progress.

Will you be doing a rendering to help nail down a color?

Just curious.
