They came out very nice! Interior looks great.

gofastwclass 04-07-2016 08:39 PM

Nice job at taking a fairly aggressively styled modern seat and making it fit an older vehicle well.

TomM 04-08-2016 05:25 AM

Thanks guys, pretty stoked about how they turned out....

Such a cool car! What is the weight on this? I have the same motor in a heavy ZL1 and that car is violent I can only imagine in something lighter with no traction control!

Not sure, but have certified scales at work, I'll drive it out one day and weigh it. Should be right at 3,300......

Yes, it is extremely violent.......don't have enough tire on it to make a difference, but will soon....

I have the utmost respect for high horsepower cars, having driven a few. This thing definitely commands my respect and caution...

Better idle video, tune is all but done, just need to connect the wide band and do a few full throttle pulls....

T,

Awesome build man. Love 66 Nova's and regret not buying one after looking at yours. Great car brother. I live in Highlands if you ever want to get together or roll with us on the power tour.

One wicked ass ride Tom! You've definitely raised the bar.
You will definitely surprise some folks :waveflag:

Here are the pictures of the reason I did the mini tub....

Rims are 18 x 10 with a 7" backspace. Tires are Sumitomo 295 x 30 x 18. Could have probably done a 35 or 40 AR.....maybe will do that after these wear out...

There is about 1.25 fingers width between the tire and fender lip...

On the way to Discount....

The new tires and wheels look just right.

Stealth from the side and meaty from the rear.

NO they complement it, and I know I'm an Ares man!!

Very Nice Tom.

Like you, I am officially spoiled......It is totally a different car. Even having driven other LS3 powered cars, this one is an animal. The power is instantaneous and the torque literally plants you in the seat even through the 2-3 shift.........me thinks I need more car......LOL

I will really have to watch this thing, it can certainly get away from me with the blink of an eye.....

Would I go supercharged again....yes..
Was it worth the hassle trying to fit everything under the hood of this little Nova....yes..
Would I pick a bigger car next time....yes......probably a 3rd gen Nova......

T,

kwhizz 06-04-2016 11:04 AM

Charley's influence for spending other peoples is spreading..........LOL.....

64mali 06-04-2016 11:32 AM

This is such a clean car and build. You did a great job keeping things clean and factory looking. I'm just as amazed at how clean it was before you started.

As nice as 3rd gens are.....It won't be a pretty as this one!

TomM 06-08-2017 12:14 PM

So after driving and logging for a while, I was having several issues that needed sorting out. Maybe it was me overthinking things or whatever, but they were bugging me none the less. Won't go into all the details.

The main thing was high intake air temps....up around 160. Probably due to several things, inter cooler/lid too small, pump, reservoir too small, cramped engine compartment etc....

Sooo....I made several changes...the biggest one was installing a larger inter cooler system, changing to the ZL1 lid, and adding a larger reservoir....All those things apparently fixed the issue, as now my temps are down around 120 degrees, and I am not seeing as much timing getting pulled on the scanner...I'll call it a win and look into changing up the air intake to add a fresh air box under the fender later on.......enough blabbing, onto the pictures...

Larger inter cooler system. Stacked two coolers this time instead of one..

http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps4ygw6ocw.jpg

http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...psweedykx0.jpg

Larger reservoir.....and added ZL1 lid....

http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps7asnsy6a.jpg

http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...pskpxwefqh.jpg

And finally, ZL1 cover. The new lid fit with no issues, but the cover touched the hood ever so slightly. A little trimming on the ribs of the hood and we are good to go...

http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps5juoyknb.jpg

Almost forgot. Put 18's on the front as well....

http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...psesraavrg.jpg

Have almost 3k on it now, and everything appears to be working as planned...

Tom...... Awesome that you were able to get the "heat" thing sorted out. The car looks great..... I bet it is a handful to drive! :)

Thanks, You sir will find out soon enough....LOL....yes, it is radical to say the least now that I am getting it all dialed in. Been tuning on the transmission and learning quite a bit about HP tuners. I have it now to where I can literally shift the trans with my foot at part throttle driving....WOT is a whole other universe..... :geezer:

4L60E with ALL billet guts.........hope it doesn't blow up, that would be an expensive mess.......LOL

T,

Jr 06-09-2017 10:02 AM

That would be an expensive mess. While cruising around, have you watched your trans temp? I like where you put your cooler, but I'm wondering how well it works in that location.

I had a plate cooler, but ran out of room with the inter coolers....I routed the trans lines into the radiator cooler. With the plate cooler temps hovered around 150-160 even when I was beating on it a little....now they are in the 190-200 range.....going to have to put the plate cooler back on and abandon the radiator cooler all together...

Engine runs about 185 all the time, so I am not cooling the trans fluid to my liking...

T,

DKz Garage 06-09-2017 11:55 AM

I can't wait....I think I'll follow your lead on the updated supercharger lid...GM is pretty proud of that piece for sure :) Also planning on running a "large" cooling system on the SC.

Cheapest place I found the lid was through Jegs. Comes complete with bolts and sensors....eBay couldn't even beat the price...

Not enough room for an afco/ron davis heat exchanger?

Is that the factory p.s. cooler?

No Power Tour this year..........Since Charley talked us into going on the Good-Guys Road Tour.......We lost interest in the Power Tour..........The GG Tour is way better.........The Nomad is ripped apart awaiting parts from a Vendor I bought stuff from ..........Let's just say I used bad Judgement in buying what I thought was a "Engineered" system...........Pretty $ad.......

Not without spending 5-600 for a custom one. I looked for a few weeks, finally settled on these....

No, it's a small cooler I bought from Jegs.....since the reservoirs are so small, I mainly wanted some more fluid capacity...

I'll have to look into that. I did the Cruisin' the Coast two years ago. Much better than the tour, not as much driving and over 7K hot rods..all in one place....
Sucks on the parts...wasn't good old CPP was it?

The GoodGuys Hall of Fame tour is limited to 50 cars.... and the 50 cars from the following year - get first dibs on the next year. It's the best organized best run most fun tour ever. Try to get on it. There's a couple people on it that are sketchy - Lillard being one of them..... otherwise it's a pure hoot.

I think it starts at Dave Kindigs shop this year.
