The GMC opening seems too large to me. I guess the V8 emblem w/the bezel visually looks slightly smaller to me. I guess it's a subtle difference but my eye picks up on the difference.

WSSix 01-16-2022 12:40 PM

I don't like the vent. I'd go with some sort of emblem only.

JB400 01-16-2022 11:55 PM

Neither. I'd section the hood and remove 2-3 inches out of the front, to bring the top down. Afterwards, I'd reconsider the bowtie.

samckitt 01-17-2022 07:54 AM

And if you want the Chevy emblem , just my thought, narrow it so the sides are in line with the bumper/grill:

Doors are next.
Love the new door handles I came across. Knuckle pockets are next for the door handle. I know everybody has different tastes, but I was never a fan of the factory door handles.
Electric door latches off 2020 Corvette and Nu-relics power windows with factory looking interior handle switch for both door and window.

WOW those are cool!

214Chevy 02-17-2022 08:35 PM

Door jams about complete. Boxed in the switch mechanism with access panel.

On to drip rails. I love them and they create a nice body line that takes away from the German arm helmet look. So just making them look laser straight.

Bumper starting to come together and lower tailgate valance. Now time to work in exhaust and license plate into lower bumper. Looks too clean with no license plate and exhaust. That will all change... Also adding some weld-in tailgate anti-rattles that look good. #Hammerfab

Great work!

EVIL SS 03-18-2022 07:09 AM

This is just an incredible build! Seriously great work and awesome details.

WSSix 03-19-2022 06:48 AM

What about a flip down license plate that would raise the plate up under the truck when parked? Are you going to be too low for it? Just thinking of ways to keep that really clear rear look while still being legal.

That's a tough one. It would be close to the ground, but maybe a mock up to see what she looks like.

WSSix 03-20-2022 07:43 AM

The only other thing I could think of would be for a plate to rise up straight out of the bumper or tail gate if it's thick enough. When in the recessed position, the top would simply sit flush with the surroundings.

Now that might be cool!

Are those magnets holding the tailgate shut?

No, they are rubber bumpers to keep everything tight and no rattles. The beds on old trucks were rattle traps. That's why the whole bed has been welded together and the latches changed. No chains or scissor opener. It has a Hammer Fab flipper stop. Works great.

WSSix 04-22-2022 06:49 PM

Very nice. Thanks for explaining.

With the slimmer door handles, I wanted knuckle clearance.

When the bed floor is up, the rear section looked very unfinished and ugly. This panel looks right. #HammerFab

I was out in the shop looking @ my 64's raised floor set-up last night debating whether to/or not hinge the center for access. I had all the outer boards in position & was thinking "the frame & stuff look decent but I need to figure out some inner splash shields (reverse image of the bumpers shields) so it looks finished".

Levi's 'next level' approach never disappoints.

He really does have an eye for his craft.

WSSix 06-09-2022 04:26 AM

That close out panel looks like something you would see on a new car straight from the factory. Very nicely done.

Any updates?

My daughter is getting married late September in Cedar Creek, I need to get up to Liberty Hill and take a look
