Reiters will also be painting it and yes we plan on having it at the Detroit Autorama March 7.
|
Last Autorama my 10 yo daughter said your car had "cool paint" . I will make sure to show it to her in yellow. She will say the same thing again.
|
Ready for paint
Reider is hammering away on Jackass. We hope to fire the LS9 on the dyno in a couple weeks with the GM Perf Parts controler and harness.

Coming along nicely!! Thanks for the update!

Jackass
Do you guys have any target goals, like weight, performance #s, etc?
I've always liked Mark & Charley's build styles...Subtle, yet brutal. It's nice to see another one in the works & also nice to see some Michigan shops doing good. However- I'm not sure Charley will like like big whitewalls you have next to the ride there... ;) |

You guys are gonna piss Mark off if you keep calling them Mark and Charley's builds. Mark is overseeing the build on this one for me but the other cars were all Mark builds...no Charley. I might have ended up with them but I had no part in the builds....Except maybe some input on the Mule Twin Turbo rebuild....:willy:
|
You guys don't like my yellow wheels ?
|
Who's '68 is in the background? Anyone we know?
|
ww
It's not the wheels, it's more the white-wall tires ha ha.
|
It's coming along real nice. Can't wait to see it in paint. Soooo... If I get deloused, wear a clean room suit, maybe a protective plastic layer, and get disinfected, could I see the car, maybe sit in it? Maybe even get a ride if I'm nice? I wouldn't be hurt if you said no....

Here are pics of Jackass after Reiters metal finished it. These guys know their stuff. People actually asking where to order one of them new Camaro bodies.

I'd have that same shiite-eating-grin if I knew that I'd be driving that on Power Tour!
|
You can't say their hiding anything on this build lol . I can't wait to see it with color. Awesome build!
|
Should be a cool car, especially with the LS9. What color yellow?

GM's MSRP on the ZR1 brake components is $12,183
Gene Culley is currently quoting $8,999 This includes four calipers, four rotors, 4 sets of brake pads.. (ZR1's are 1 set of brake pads per wheel, and the calipers and pads do not come with the caliper pin kits.) Some are of the opinion that these brakes, if not used with the corresponding electronic controls, might not perform all that much better than the current C6 ZO6 setup (as Scott has on his car). There just isn't much data on how they would perform when retrofitted to something like an older musclecar, and operated without the controls... yet. There are definately lot of things to consider, apart from just bolting them up...of course you need at least a 19" wheel... Here are a few, from the Corvette Forums: Be aware that if you track a car with Carbon/Carbon or Carbon/Ceramic brakes you MUST use/make further modifications due to the higher operating temps. The ZR1 required different front spindle bearing assemblies, due to the extreme heating generated in the rotor. So, plan on changing hubs and spindles. The brake fluid used MUST have a DRY Boiling point above 600*F. There are ONLY 3 choices currently available. WET boiling point is a concern but is secondary: Make / DRY BP F* / WET BP F* AP PRF 660 / 608*F / 390*F GS 610 / 610*F / 421*F Wilwood EXP / 626*F / 417*F |
I took a break from working on Jackass and had a buddy video me.:D

WOW if thats what you do on weekends, no wonder you like fast cars. lol
|
This is seriously my dream car!!! I can't wait to see it at Autorama... I'm taking my car there, but I really don't know why I should even bother as I'll be drueling over this one all weekend! Is it still on track to be there?
|
Yes it is still supposed to be there. They should be shooting yellow on Saturday.
|
Would it be OK if I kind of disliked you a little. It's nothing personal
This will be one bad ass car, I was looking for another reason to fly to Detroit. |
You might want to but the plactics gaurds on the brake rotors that GM has. they said to use them when the wheels are off a ZR1. they say that they can chip easy and once that happens they are junk. just somthing that i read in the tech article that they send to the dealers. LOOK GREAT
EDIT found the GM service guide. it says that each ZR1 was shipped with one set of rotor protectors, they are blue foam pieces.you can get sets threw your GM ( chevy ) dealer threw GMSPO (general motors special parts order). or it says that you can geta 25.4mm (1in) foam pipe insulator can be used if you dont have a set of the protects. the protector should be slid over the rotor before the wheel is removed just in case the wheel may come incontact with the rotor. |
